I've seen this argument from the Gnome folks: "If distros ship with custom themes, and they don't work properly, then users contact us at Gnome and bother us for things we have nothing to do with." That's their main motive. So stupid. I mean most GTK apps do not integrate with their Libadwaita anyway, so even vanilla Gnome will result in a mess of inconsistency. Only a few GTK apps use that library.
Second...I mean...somehow they think it is bad to have an inconsistent desktop (and this is untrue anyway) but only from Gnome's perspective. How about people complaining to XFCE, KDE, Budgie, Mate and the rest of DEs that some apps do not respect the system's theme because they use libadwaita, and have removed functionalities such as global menus, top bars, and more....
In Gnome's world, it is NOT ok to have a tiny minuscule of specifically GTK/Gnome apps look a little bit off when using a custom theme, and because of that they proceed to make it nearly impossible to theme the GTK/Gnome apps, breaking all other Distros. Also, do they care that people will install QT apps on Gnome desktops too!? Those will never use Libadwaita so they baked in inconsistency in Gnome....Gnome really cares ONLY about their Gnome distro and their Gnome apps.
I am resharing this article again forum.tromjaro.com/t/libadwait… where I go in detail about this.
Libadwaita still sucks and they have no reason to implement it
Reading this article about libadwaita and how pity the arguments are in favor of using it. I was expecting more.TROMjaro Forum
