Hey instance admins from the fediverse, I think that banning entire instances from your own, is the last resort one should go for and only in extreme situations, plus notify all of your users about your decision if that ever happens. It would be also fair to notify that banned instance that it was banned. Else this is a wild slippery slope which makes the fediverse a bunch of little churches that take decisions for the rest of us.

Recently someone reported that our social.trom.tf didn't look very good when you created calendar events, and since I have created several custom themes for our Friendica instance I went ahead to test that in order to fix the design problem. Since I am not used to create events and calendars make me puke, I created an event to test this and it seems like it sent the event to all of my "friends". And some it seems got so pissed off that they reported it to their instance admins and that could trigger those admins to block our entire instance. If this is the case then the silliness is beyond even that of Facebook.

So please be relaxed! Users have the extreme power of banning users and in some cases banning entire instances. It is a very toxic environment that of mommy and daddy who decide for hundreds of children, and then these children go to their mommy and daddy and report things they do not like, in the hope that mommy and daddy block these "bad things" for everyone else on that instance. This is very bad.

So yah, I do not plan to ever ban any instances from communicating with our own, except if there is a very extreme case where an instance is full of obviously spammy accounts and that puts an extreme toll on our server. But even in that case it will never be a rushed decision, and everyone will be made aware of it.

Please humans, be more relaxed. And if you are bothered by the internet, be your own judge and jury and remove/ban that content from your own face, but do not take such decisions for hundreds or thousands of other users.
