I just got back here after months trekking thru other parts of the #fediverse and currently getting tired of #mastodon and the bloat....I've always loved #friendica, but it seemed slow...maybe things have changed, thoughts?

Is development still ongoing?

Also, loving the #relatica app on android:)

Social Media Feed reshared this.

For me for desktop friendica is almost instant.
in reply to Tio

is there a desktop client, or are you referring to interacting thru a browser?
in reply to LPS

Just the browser....I use Friendica on desktop. But same is on mobile.

Well since your account is on our instance you have a day to contact us via the main tromsite dot com website and convince me you are not a bot yourself. Good luck.

ha ha, great response, I wasn't going to entertain it:)

My god, that's terrifying, and likely to happen more as time goes on and the fediverse becomes more widely used.

I really hope at one point there is a project that fully embraces IPFS or something similar to host these services out of the reach of Gov agencies. Not sure how that would be achieved, but the world needs it badly.

That and encrypted DMs, really, that should be priority number 1

i'm still waiting on the application .sup by dansup the developer of Pixelfed to be released .. not holding my breath;) But it had the promise of a dedicated IM using activitypub and most importantly encrypted communications.

I hear you, but if I really wanted to do off the record communications, I would simply use a separate encrypted messenger.

I just hope at one point that it would become obvious that leaving this wide open for abuse from unscrupulous admins is not a good idea.

Sad, but true.

I wasn't aware of IPFS; I'll have to look into it.
