Finally a new TROMjaro ISO with Gnome 40 fully integrated. tromjaro.com/releases/ All seems to work fine except a few errors with the Dash to Dock panel like you can't tweak its settings. Probably they will fix it soon. I like the new Gnome look. Doesn't bother me. Like it a bit better than the previous. All fine! Grab the ISO from tromjaro.com/install/ - use TROMdrive.

I am so happy when all works with TROMjaro. For the past year or so we've had a very stable TROMjaro. Thanks mainly to the Manjaro team of course, but I've also learned what and how to tweak to keep TROMjaro itself stable.

Tomorrow I'll get back to TROM II. So tired today. Also getting my vaccine tomorrow, first shot. Happy about that although it is such a retarded world where young people get the vaccine now, while people of all ages in poor tribes are getting none. I'd happily donate my vaccine to some older folk from those countries. It is what it is...

Not sure if it will stop dumb people....our trade-based society incentivizes a very shitty online behavior: clicks, shares, comments...more more more. So misinformation is easy to spread an you can trade that for money or whatever. But yah it is sad people from Africa for example, are not even getting any vaccines as of now. And in these poor areas COVID will mutate, as is with the Delta variant, so it may become resistant to these COVID vaccines that are used in the rich tribes.

We need to take care of all humans, not in pockets. We have global problems but we try to fix them locally.

Last time I tried out TROMjaro ISO, it had some stability issues. I'll try out the newer version when I get time and I'll report back if I get any errors.

Interesting- Yeah please let me know . I am myself monitoring 7 computers closely. One is a tablet, one is a tabled/laptop. The rest are different laptop brands. For the past many months no issues at all. And for the past 2 or so years since we released tromjaro very little errors. But ofc there are so many computer configs out there. So yah lemme know ;)

Ok, so I tried the latest version of TROMjaro (14.07.2021) from the ISO image using ventoy.

I'm happy to report that it was very stable this time, I was surprised by it tbh. The only sorta error I could find was that an app "hp-uiscan" had no icon (see the image).

To give you some context, the last ISO image I tried was version 22.12.2020 which is almost a year ago. I can certainly say that TROMjaro had improved a lot in terms of stability during these months.

yup this is an error with that particular app that cannot pick up a relevant icon....it is an issue with the app itself and the way it is built....I tried to fix it several times but could not unfortunately. Should not be a huge deal tho is just an icon ofc, but thanks for reporting. And am happy to hear you find tromjaro as stable. That's important as that's what I wanted to achieve. I will release a new ISO today or tomorrow and improve a few things, and try to look again at that app and its icon ;)

Its not that big of a deal, tbh. My linux setup with window managers doesn't even have icons, lol 😂

One thing I wanna say is that I really enjoyed the default wallpapers on TROMjaro. Did you guys make these yourself ?

Infact, I liked it so much that I actually copied it all over to my system, haha 😁

heh thanks! No, we wanted to make a few but didn't have the time....so I carefully selected a bunch from free online sources to match our flat design. ;) I'd like for us to create some original ones in the near future if we have time....

All those wallpapers look so similar, its hard to believe that you individually picked them up online. And yes, it goes well with your icons and all.

Its not that important to have "original" wallpapers. I'd rather tell you to focus on creating educational materials like TROM II, its very important in today's society.

I'm currently on artix linux, which is just like arch linux but without systemd. I use larbs.xyz to create a minimal setup that I can easily use and works well out of the box.

This is of course a more advanced setup, but I like it better. After learning things like linux & vim, it changed my view on computers in general. Before all this I didn't knew the point of using PCs when you can do almost everything on mobile these days, but now I know why :)

Hm interesting :). See that's why Linux is so great because there is a flavor for pretty much anyone. I didn't hear about this one. It is made by the guy that has a peertube channel and talks about privacy and stuff?

Yeah, its made by Luke Smith who has a peertube. He's a controversial figure in the linux community because he says some really stupid things - fosstodon.org/@futureisfoss/10…

Despite all this, he's still a very knowledgeable man when it comes to tech & linux, I've learned a lot of things from him. His videos are more focused on linux than privacy, this will give you an idea - videos.lukesmith.xyz/videos/wa…

I haven't installed and used TROMjaro permanently, but I've used Manjaro gnome for a long time before moving to Artix. From my experience I can say that its a really good spot between stability/convenience and being able to learn more about linux. I learned all the basic stuff about linux and took my first steps on the terminal while using Manjaro gnome :)
