Today I am doing some gymnastics with my hard drives to get some more space. Moving some TB around, syncing again with the servers and so forth. May take many hours. Despite having around 20TB of hard drives, I only have around 1TB free to play with and TROM II adds up a lot when it comes to storage. Some 2TB already the project files + some 500GB the proxy clips for it and I barely started editing it. I think I will need at least 500GB more storage (footage I'll use) + some 500GB more in proxy clips. Lots of stuff. My main 10TB HDD is almost full, and that's my backup HDD.
I have a 500GB SSD for my System where the OS is installed + apps and their settings. Plus my projects (mostly images, videos, and stuff like that). All except TROM videos and TROM II project.
I have a 4TB HDD where all of our TROM files (media) are stored + TROM II project fully including the proxy kdenlive clips + the files for my personal documentary that I may release.
I have another 6TB with the VN stuff (that's some 4TB) + my personal photos and videos (some 500GB) + all of the server backups (files and all that).
And finally I have a 10TB one where all of these other ones are backedup and I keep file versioning for 1-2 weeks for all of them.
I'd love to use an m2 disk since they are super fast and would increase the speed of TROM II video editing. But in order to fully use that I'd have to buy a 2TB or 4TB one so all of the project files are stored on it + my OS. A 4TB one is a crazy 450 Euros. Nuts. No way!
So I'll do it with whatever I have for now. ;) #tromlive
