If you allow the flame of discontent to keep on burning, not being satisfied with anything, then superficial satisfactions have no place. Then this very dissatisfaction demands something much greater, and the ideals, the gurus, the religions, the establishment, become totally superficial. This flame of discontent, because it has no outlet, because it has no object in which it can fulfil itself, becomes a great passion. That passion is intelligence.

If you are somewhat intelligent or aware, and if you are dissatisfied with this transient world, you want something permanent, and therefore are constantly seeking: you join a movement, commit yourself to a political party or activity, and so on. You are always active in this search. But this search invariably leads to a predestined end. What you want is comfort, permanency, a state of mind that will never be disturbed, which you call peace. And you will find what you are seeking, but it will not be the real, it will not be truth.

The story for November sea surface temperatures continued with the ongoing weak La Niña in the east-central tropical Pacific, as well as the persistent anomalous warmth spreading across the midlatitude regions in both hemispheres.

Skeptical ScienceEarly 20th century warming was in large part due to rising solar activity and relatively quiet volcanic activity. However, both factors have played little to no part in the warming since 1975. Solar activity has been steady since the 50's.

What's always been fascinating about it for me are the tools/props. Lots of craftsmanship went into the concept and creation of the act, even before the performance. Beautiful end to end.

With great focus and concentration, she adds more sticks, one at a time, until she's built a towering contraption of sticks balancing each other and the feather. Using her foot, she raises one last stick, and balances the whole thing on top of that. At the end, she removes the feather and it all falls apart.
