A comic in four panels: Panel 1: The Gothic Sorceress sits at a table, surrounded by a party hat, wine and champagne glasses, the aftermath of a long dinner with the plates, and the silhouettes of a crowd behind her during the new year eve party at the magic school. She looks bored and disconnected from the celebration. She ask out of curiosity her AI Parrot, perched on the back of the empty chair beside her. > Gothic Sorceress: "Avian Intelligence, how could one actually make their New Year's resolutions stick?" Panel 2: The AI Parrot responds. She listens looking at the Parrot even more bored. > AI Parrot: "Break down big goals into smaller ones, stay consistent, and track progress." > Gothic Sorceress: "Boring..." Panel 3: The Gothic Sorceress turn back to the crowd behind her: the Headmaster rise his glass for a toast with his own AI Parrot perched on his shoulder. A look at global temperatures so far this year (January to November) compared to each other period since 1850... 2025 is the 2nd highest on record!

There is a long-term increasing trend and large year-to-year variability. The mean surface temperature anomaly in January-November 2025 was 1.18°C globally. What caused early 20th Century warming?

Early 20th century warming was in large part due to rising solar activity and relatively quiet volcanic activity. However, both factors have played little to no part in the warming since 1975. Solar activity has been steady since the 50's.
