@experimentmapass huh. I don’t have any problems in Edinburgh with Royal mail, not even with international packages (I just owed a tariff once which was annoying).
After living in the US for many years I can say their mail service was 10x worse 😂

Hey, spoilers, man. We're not allowed to figure the year's big surprise twist when it comes to the Russia/Ukraine escalation for a couple of months yet.
Coming this Christmas: A high atmosphere EMP pulse.
I'm really excited to eventually see this film, "Shifting Baselines", that I'm in! It looks SO COOL from the trailer, and there's a big picture of me on IMDB for it, haha weird. (But honestly, it's pretty hard to tell it's me because it was -25C or so when they were filming me here in Feb 2024)
Trailer here! viff.org/whats-on/viff25-shift… Right now I think you can only see it in film festivals, but if there's one near you, you should definitely watch it!

I love that, on imdb, they say it "stars: Samantha Lawler, Jonathan McDowell and Daniel Pauly"

The climate crisis is turning into a climate catastrophe, we have a mental health epidemic, a plastic epidemic, an inequality crisis, a pollution crisis, an energy crisis, a misinformation crisis, a migration crisis, a corporate crisis, an AI slop crisis, an art decline crisis, an economic crisis – and one positive thing – a sex retreat party 🤣. We're doing pretty well, aren’t we 😀

@Bonfire@bonfire.cafe I'm very excited about the Bonfire developments, thank you for all your work! 🙏🤩
I was looking at the Open Science flavour / app (I'm still a bit foggy on the terminology), but there seem to be some dead links (e.g. on bonfirenetworks.org/app/open-s…, the "participate" link (to github.com/bonfire-networks/bo…); and on github.com/bonfire-networks/bo…, the "Open Science" link (to github.com/bonfire-networks/op…).
Do you know whether this is still alive, so to speak? 🙂

Now I don't have to because you nailed it perfectly.
This should be mandatory reading for a whole lot of people trying really hard to be significant right now.

in reply to Chao-c' • • •Yeah, based on experimental evidence, there are a handful of lower bounds for the predicted half-life of protons (the lowest is 10³⁴ years), assuming they do decay, which are all many orders of magnitude greater than the current age of the Universe (1.4x10¹⁰ years). Maybe someone will see it happen, but they probably won't be human.

Who was, before any other thing, a catholic priest.
Now notice that we never had a good theory for inflation.
which means, that we still dont have a good explanation for the origin of the universe, and the big bang explosion "all from nothing" is just as bad as "god made the world".
we're even more insignificant that we can realize.
