I was looking up the origin of the term 'Iron Curtain' and came across this zinger of a quote.
"With clanging, creaking, and squeaking, an iron curtain is lowering over Russian History. "The performance is over." The audience got up. "Time to put on your fur coats and go home." We looked around, but the fur coats and homes were missing."
- Vasily Rozanov, The Apocalypse of our Time (1918)

After Netanyahu’s call to implement a Knesset ban on the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, Israeli forces have attacked several educational centres affiliated with it in the occupied West Bank.
In the Qalandiya refugee camp, Israeli forces forcefully entered the Qalandiya Training Centre and ordered its immediate evacuation while 350 students and 30 staff were present. Tear gas and sound bombs were used against the civilians.

K is for Know Kindness
This step in the personal ethical revolution I'm following (A-Z, one step every two weeks) discusses the known psychological and physiological benefits of kindness, and specifically of practising gratitude, the prime example being keeping a gratitude journal. (G has already been used for Goodbye Google, so I guess gratitude had to fit in here)
It seems there have been numerous studies on gratitude's personal benefits, such as reducing inflammation and boosting the immune system.I admit I'm a little skeptical, and note in the linked article there are also some studies that don't show these effects. Also, if you're genuinely kind or grateful you're not being it for personal benefit, are you?
Nevertheless, since I already write a diary, I will make a practice of including some thoughts of gratitude. It is undeniably a positive thing.

In occupied East Jerusalem, Israeli soldiers and authorities stormed the UNRWA Jerusalem Elementary Boys School in the Wadi al-Joz neighbourhood this morning, expelled students from their desks, and forced the staff to close the school.
