Today in Writing History May 5, 1864: Nellie Bly, American journalist and author, was born on this day. Bly was famous for her record-breaking trip around the world, which she completed in 72 days. This was faster than Phineas Foggβs trip, in Jules Verneβs βAround the World in 80 Days.β However, she also pioneered investigative journalism. In one of her most celebrated pieces, she went undercover to report on abuse and neglect at the Womenβs Lunatic Asylum on Blackwellβs Island. Her report created a sensation, which led to some reforms.

What's messed up is that we often only teach many kids just one language when they are most receptive to learning.
My husband has studied Chinese for 12 years and in that time he's gained what a six-year-old might have by simple exposure and frankly I'm impressed with him for it.
