Stephanie Kane needed 50 years to write this true crime memoir
"True Crime Redux," recounting the 1973 murder of her fiancé's mother, grew from a fictionalized version that helped reopen a cold case. The Colorado Sun

in reply to Vee • • •About two years ago, Stewie Walton, a Walmart heir, made an anouncement he would give anyone from out of state who Is an IT professional, $5,000 and a Walmart bicycle to relocate to Arkansas and work at Walmart HQ because "Arkansans are not sophisticated enough to work in cutting edge technology" LOL
Not a joke, he actually said that.

EVERYTHING sold at Walmart is 'generally crap'... cheap at that.

Store #4 was in my home town in Arkansas when they first opened as Wal-Mart. They had bins on tables with defective underwear where the leg holes were different sizes and the elastic was stretched out. We used to insult someone by saying, "you are so stingy, you buy your underwear at Wal-Mart"
All the merchandise was factory rejects.
The only reason we went there was for the free popcorn 🍿Sometimes, Mr. Walton pushed the popcorn machine out on the sidewalk.

Don’t forget, “but if you survive, you’ll be charged with murder”

in reply to Vee • • •On top of that the child might get married off because child marriage is still legal in parts of the US, they could be forced to sacrifice schooling to work and they won't even get paid a decent wage for the sacrifice.
They did the baby bonus in Australia and other countries and it never worked out well.
Vee
in reply to Ami • • •@ami
Yes. Very true. They tried it in every country. It doesn't work because people don't 'decide to make a baby' for money. That's dumb.
Women (and couples) have to feel safe.
Ami
in reply to Vee • • •It seems to have influenced the decision for quite a number of poorer people. I don't know if they were already considering it, but it lead a lot more children being born into poverty.
Due to that money being "wasted" or otherwise not spent on the child restrictions ended up being put in place.
It's really unfortunate. But yeah for most it probably won't make a difference. I have a child in this world, not even if you paid me millions.
