I just created a new Friendica account on TROM social. I am hoping this will become my replacement to facebook. I am seriously annoyed at all the blatant consumerism that has taken over facebook. Can't scroll through any posts without being bombarded by ads, promotional content, and sponsored bullshit. Most of it junk that I am not interested in. I tried Bluesky for a bit, and its kind of nice, but its a Twitter alternative so the postable word count is super low. I like typing up lengthy paragraphs, sometimes I have a lot to say, and trying to weedle it down to a few words is frustrating. So far I like that I can keep on typing and typing and there is no red alert saying I went over the limit.

We shall see how many pictures I can post, that will be the other test. I like to post pictures and there is usually a lot of them. None of this, pick one single image, a reason I don't like Instagram. Will also see how things work with being public or private. I tried Mastodon, but all the posts felt very public and automatically go into a global feed, and sometimes I don't want the entire world all up in my business. Friendica looks like it has friends similar to facebook? so I could restrict my posts to only friends? That would be useful for when I want to post pictures of my kid online.
