The use of AI to generate illustrations has very serious moral implications: inhumane working conditions in data centers in the Global South, the use of stolen images and child abuse images for program training, support for a network of companies that promote racism and anti-LGBTQ+ policies in their corporate culture, the ecological disaster created to power and cool the computers, and the loss of work for artists who need to be paid for their art.

I'd object to the f word in there, even though it is kinda justified. If asked to, I would replace it by #StopAI.

OTOH whoever owns the instance can make up their own rules and I respect that. Maybe you should actually enforce the rule, maybe even in source code.

May as well ask the AI to include "this statement is false" ;)

I'd love to be able to run something that I could trust would not put #slopware in it's repositories.

I'm fine using outdated versions of my favorite software, if it means I can hold off the #LLM wave.

Right now I have to double-guess every new software release and it's a burden.

There have to be some more #people who care about #EthicalComputing.

Doing my part in discovering what libre software is free of LLM use (and what is tainted).

For Logseq that would probably be the "OG" (or 1.x) branch. The 2.0 "DB" branch has reportedly 80% of code "written" by "AI".

So I know which version I'll keep using.

I recommend you kindly ask similar questions to your local libre software developers.

AI needs to slow down because of the loss of people's jobs, replaced by enshittified, inadequate chatbots. And because of the extreme environmental damage caused by data centres: the destruction of farmland; the excessive water usage; complaints of constant noise and vibration; the increased costs of electricity for consumers; the greenhouse gas emissions when the data centres have on-site generators.

I'm offended by the Prime Minister's push for these free AI literacy courses.

Free education is badly needed.

But not in AI literacy. If I had the skills and capacity, I'd put together free courses on AI hazard literacy. Canadians deserve to know the whole picture, including how much water is used in powering these behemoth AI data centres, and how many pollutants will be spewed into the air by the natural gas fired power plants, and how much land that will be taken from other uses and put towards building the data centres.

People need to know what our governments are pushing on us and why. We don't need to be cajoled into letting more and more of this AI garbage infiltrate our lives.
