I think that being a witch is a kinda like being a gender; if you claim it for yourself, then you are one. Nobody else can determine that for you.

It's also kinda like the honor system; we trust that if someone is going through the trouble of publically claiming they're a witch, then they're probably doing some witchcraft.

But also, like gender, you can claim it just to yourself. Because ultimately, being a witch is who you are at the core of your true self, and you don't have to make a public showing in order to be valid.

Is there an authoritative book or resource on the meanings and uses of herbs, gems, oils, water, etc?

I've got access to a few local witches I can generally ask, but I like a good book.

Especially appreciated if its resources available to someone in #Kentucky or #Appalachia generally

I have made two mini love and luck spell jars for my friends wedding. I've never made spell jars before, but I had a lot of components for reasons I can't explain.

Weird how one ends up compelled to just have dried rose petals, tobacco ( I don't smoke) and small bits of strawberry quartz.

The neck is wrapped with a section of Lucretius's "On the nature of things" the beginning lines of erotic love between Venus and Mars.

Then I coated the top in sealing wax and wrapped a beaded lanyard around it so it may act as a charm for the wizard staves I'm making for them.

Now I will leave them on my Altar for the time being. Crafting is so much fun!

One of the oldest healing spells I have is a chant I got from, I think, an Earth Dance festival in like '98 or '99? It was literally on cassette tape, so, pretty old, lol

The basis of the spell is to give strength to a loved one by sharing your own. Technically, it's a binding, like a temporarily handfasting connecting two people to aid in healing.

"I am a circle, I am healing you
You are a circle, you are healing me
Unite us, be one
Unite us, be as one"
