Managed to capture the Milky Way "core" last night, for the first time :)

Made an 8 hours timelapse as well :). Will be part of a future video for our TROMhome channel - videos.trom.tf/c/tromhome/vide…

All with a Pixel 4a with CalyxOS, gave to me for free by @aaron :)

I used the standard Pixel camera in astrophotography mode. Since I use CalyxOS the processing likely happens on the device itself, so no google nonsense. After I took the photo I edited it with RawTherapee

Wow duuude! That's just mesmerizing 🀩 I wish we could see it more in our region πŸ₯²

I wish we could see it with our own eyes :D - because even this I could not see it myself, but the phone captured it... We need to go to a super dark place and gaze at the sky. I fucking love this literal window to the universe :)

@esh
Being able to see that beauty with your naked eyes would be amazing! :blobcataww:

Thanks @aaron - I am trying to value the phone you gave me as much as possible. Thanks for that! :)

@Ja_E_I_O_U

Is RawTherapee like Photoshop for linux? I thought it was GIMP people use to edit photos...

in reply to Rokosun

No it is more like Lightroom from Adobe. Geared towards editing photos - colors, light, contrast, shades, etc.. Much more advanced than what Gimp can do. And also trade-free :).

@Ja_E_I_O_U

Oh so it's more advanced than GIMP? Or are they just tools made for different purposes?

in reply to Rokosun

They are different....for different photo editing purposes
