I had this thought these days that people, just like products nowadays, have become of a poor quality.
I had a bike when I was 10. Well built one. It was of one of my older cousins. And I think he also got it from his father or something. We used to share bikes, clothes, furniture and more over generations. Today, most products are shit. They break fast, have unnecessary features, are outdated by software limitations, etc..
I think people are the same. Think relationships, no one seems to have the patience to build serious relationships. Just like you change your phone every other year you change your partner too. Shallow values, mindset of a consumer. if your browser is slow you get annoyed and want another new device. Is indeed harder to figure out why your browser was slow and fix that. Maybe install an adblcker, maybe install another browser? But changing the phone is something this society encourages all to do.
If your partner is not fun anymore you think, maybe is easier to hit that Tinder and find a new one, and throw into the trash the many years you spent together. The solution to your problem is rather a temptation created by a consuming society. You get a new boy or girl on Tinder, and one more, and is fun...for a while...then you realize is all shallow and you hit your head on to the same problems.
Your new phone you realize is not much different from your old one. And you always want a newer one. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me always, shame on the society.
Products are bad nowadays because of the incentive of this trade society. Make more, sell more. If you made great bikes or phones that are upgradable you may be out of business if people do not need to renew them. Same with people, this environment of Instagram, fake lives, tiktoks, shorts, busy worker life, dating apps, silly tv shows, made people shallow, little patience, no substance in their brains. If something is not working well in your view, get a new one.
So yah, I feel like people are of a very poor quality nowadays. They cannot commit to something long term, you cannot trust them, they break easily.
Just a thought I had....
Eugene
