My Pixel 4a got an upgrade to Android 14. But not from Google who dropped support for this phone recently, but from @CalyxOS ! Imagine that. Huge kudos to the Calyx team and a big middle finger to Google by making humans buy new phones every year and rendering the old phones obsolete just because of no software updates.

In a trade-based society all humans care is about their trade advantages. Fuck Google with their Pixel 8 software support till 2030. That's a marketing nonsense. They should be ashamed for even releasing yet another phone that's exactly like the previous one, and making their old phones obsolete by refusing to push updates to them.

A few months in and I love CalyxOS. Everything works great. My phone is ads and trackers free. A true trade-free OS for the phone :).

Part of that has to do with the fact that the Calyx team has a lot of members on it that also work on @LineageOS, which (through predecessor CyanogenMod) has been the ROM that's been the longest in the Android modification game.

haha yea. Have a Pixel 4a since a few years that runs calyx since the day I got it. Was in this consumer circle headspace of "shit I need to buy a new phone soon" even though mine is still fine. Imagine my joyful surprise when my phone just Autoupdated to android 14.

Been using Calyx on my Pixel 3 for over a year now and it's really a godsend. And they will support fairphone 5 - I will ride this pixel until it dies and by that time the FP with Calyx will be an option. Very grateful for Calyx's good work in providing viable alternatives to Google's cesspool :)
