It is an upside battle to grow a project like TROM. Back in 2011 I thought I'll make that massive documentary and I'm done. I'll forget about this retarded society. 10 years later and many hours of videos and thousands of pages of books + a ton of projects + and so many discussions, and I feel like I am in the same position as 10 years ago, only that now it is far more difficult to make people see this society for what it is.
The Internet camouflaged the trade society into something that looks cool and free. And abundant, and so new and fancy. People are so confused today, they think facebook, youtube and the like are free. Ads are part of their life and they do not see that as trading their attention, and data collection is the default. Jobs are rarely if ever questioned and money is only vilified by the crypto enthusiasts who are completely hypnotized by this new shinny money.
Capitalism, communism, other isms, seem to have been reinforced in people's heads over the past 10 years, despite them all being a mush of nothing-ideas.
Netflix, Spotify, and the like taught people that it is ok to pay for digital content, despite us being able to replicate it endlessly. This is a very depressing situation when even the digital and overly abundant and easily replicabale world is now traded and made scarce.
I am having discussions with people like I was having 10 or 15 years ago, who still believe people are greedy, and their understanding of this world is that capitalism is bad and needs to be "regulated". Same chewing gum, chewed by different people. No one asks simple questions like wtf are we doing on this planet. Do we really need jobs? Money? Ownership? In a society of so much abundance do we still have to play the same silly trade game? What is capitalism?
These are taboo questions that only seem to trigger emotions and not real discussions.
I spent so much time crafting the materials I have produced over the years, trying to dissect this society. I became obsessed with sourcing all of my claims over and over again, from reputable worldwide sources. But despite all that, despite these materials changing some minds here and there, for me personally nothing changed. The same silly discussions with normal people, who probably know how this society works by watching some movies or reading a book or two that are popular on amazon.
I am still here. And I am still listening to any criticism. But damn, it is hard when you start the same discussions over and over again for years and years. Trying to explain the same things..."No John, humans are not fuckin born greedy"...."No Emma, capitalism is not different from the implementation of socialism or communism.."...."No Mike, we can't fuckin regulate businesses and make them behave well."..... And, again, I detail these all with examples in our books....
Anyways....at times I feel down, very down, sucked into a black hole. If I could leave this planet I would. I'd take a few people and leave. #tromlive
