Line graph time series of monthly global carbon dioxide and methane abundance from January 1984 through 2025. There are seasonal cycles and long-term increasing trends for both greenhouse gases. Current carbon dioxide levels are at 427 ppm, and current methane levels are at 1941 ppb.

@simon_brooke locally the builr their downtown in a leveed RIVERBED. When it dries in the summer you can smell swamp gas, methane, in a number of places. That's why. Wetlands are SUPPOSED TO generate methane and the FACTORS are only relevant becase STUPID HUMANS live near them. Greedy 'scientists' with Grant Money pay their bills doing MEANINGLESS RESEARCH. Go away and LEAVE THE WETLANDS to be what they are.

Data from NOAAGlobalTemp v6.0.0 averaged over January to February.

I can't wait to see the North American deviations for March of this year. I bet there's a giant blue hole. We just got more snow in northern #Vermont than we got in the whole rest of the winter combined. It feels like we're the last cold place on the planet.

Status of the most recent monthly update for greenhouse gases including carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide.

Observations provided by NOAA: gml.noaa.gov/ccgg/trends/

Graphic shows three line graph time series of monthly carbon dioxide abundance in ppm (blue line), monthly methane abundance in ppb (red line), and monthly nitrous oxide in ppb (purple line). Graphs are all shown from January 1984 through November 2024/February 2025. Current levels of CO2 are 427 ppm. Current levels of methane are 1941 ppb. Current levels of nitrous oxide are 338 ppb. All graphs show long-term increasing trends along with some interannual variability and seasonality.

Now looking at a spatial view of temperature anomalies during the December to February 2025 period again highlights the relative Arctic warmth and lack of cold departures to be found anywhere outside of the central Pacific.
