Rage can be a powerful motivator. During the CrowdStrike fiasco last year our IT people managed to mess up a computer my lab uses for government regulated work. I wound up doing the investigation, and I was in a white-hot rage when I wrote the report. We were inspected by the government regulators recently, and they mentioned that investigation as an example of how we should be doing things. I'm sure I wouldn't have done so well if I hadn't been so angry.
