Don’t let oil and gas executives and warmongering autocrats tell you we can’t run modern societies on renewables.

🟢 Wind and solar already dominate new power capacity and beat fossil fuels on cost, with storage and smart grids keeping them reliable.

🟢 Clean, homegrown renewables can shield tens of millions of people from price shocks and energy blackmail, especially when communities own the power.

What we need now is the courage to say no to fossil fuels and back a fast, fair transition.

Irish football pundit Richie Sadlier said on RTÉ Sports that “some kind of action is surely required” following fan protests against Ireland’s upcoming matches against Israel in September and October.

During a friendly match between Ireland and Qatar at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, supporters threw tennis balls onto the pitch carrying messages such as “stop the game,” in protest against the planned UEFA Nations League fixtures.

Sadlier supported calls to cancel the matches, referring to Israel’s “campaign in Gaza,” while commentator Stephen Kelly suggested the protests would likely continue and that the games could even be played behind closed doors to manage backlash.

Meanwhile in music.... in a time when music streaming & normal record company double dealing have depressed the income from recording for many musicians, large scale touring has become one solution to making money from music....

There have always been acts whose live profile was better/higher than their recorded one, but now BIIRD are joining the small/select group of musicians who have made their reputation (and income) entirely on the basis of playing live.
