- and as if on fucking cue, I just discovered that another one of my favorite digital things has taken another decisive #enshittification step: The free web version of #SketchUp no longer supports importing anything - not even STL files. Even worse, it isn't even clear which one of their subscriptions includes it.
There literally is only one way these things go: They WILL get around to taking things away & making you pay to get them back.

@futzle - and yes, I did watch the "how can it be free?" video & it's Silicon Valley VC bullshit, delivered by someone who was either duped or is lying.It's the same bet every "we will grow & profit from knock-on effects of our free offering" digital service provider has made & lost; it's only a matter of time before investors demand faster growth, or the gambit fails, or both.
Happened 100s of times before.
