I've also tested quite a few and ended up with #QuodLibet. It's a very versatile offline music player that allows you to customise a lot of things. What I personally find most handy about it, is it's metadata editing and cover art download capabilities. It just works, is fast, and doesn't get in the way.
Looking for (almost) basic #Linux (X11) #AudioCD #player. That is, just play control buttons, CDDB lookup (preferably automatic, with cache), title display and song list, andโฆ that's it. alsaplayer, but with CDDB support would be near perfect.
What I'm specifically not interested in:
- music library-centred solutions, having also AudioCD support (I have QuodLibet and MPD already)
- commandline/TUI (wife unfriendly)
- rippers
- mounting as bunch of
.wav-s - generic all-media players, where AudioCD is buried deeply in โselect sourceโ dialogs
Just put the disc in, see the titles displayed, press play, hear #music. Bonus points for being in Debian/Devuan. I remember there was a bunch of such programs back in the day, where are they now?

So in the format war of blu-ray vs HD-DVD vs #HDVMD (yes you read right there existed a 3rd format, HD-VMD, that just tried to do absurd layer numbers to still use red lasers and be in theory cheaper to make discs and drives for!), the real winner are shitty Streaming Services like #Netflix and the like.
- Tho I still think #BitTorrent owns them all as #delistings and absurdly high #subscription fees and lack of #physical releases at reasonable prices resurged #piracy , but that's just me #ReadingTheRoom and saying the obvious thing noone wants to admit - I just don't pirate so I can talk about it!
