A few days ago I spent a little bit of time looking at #PeerTube, to see if it can replace YouTube yet.
I tried and failed to set up an instance on my own server, because it doesn't have enough RAM to keep up with transcoding.
I made an account on cuddly.tube: @christianp@cuddly.tube, and had a go at live streaming there but I don't think it kept up. I also uploaded a short video: cuddly.tube/w/sMqkvBnzeLk1UtY4….
Are there any PeerTube instances that can reliably live stream? I don't mind paying my way in.

Outside of the billionaires and ultra wealthy, the whole planet seems to be suffering a similar fate. I wish I knew what the endgame here was.

Patreon has "exit interviews" for people who stop supporting a creator and right now every single one of them (at least for me) is selecting the "my financial situation has changed" option.
The dotcom crash happened right when I was graduating from University, then when I finally got my career on track we got the 2008 global financial crisis.
I've had enough experience to weather this one, but wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to? 😩
People are definitely slimming down their subs across the board.
Interesting about the Patreon Exit Interviews. I think in principle, we all want to support awesome creators, but with the squeeze from all angles, it's often difficult.
It has been a couple of decades of heavy hitters with the various crashes... and of course the pandemic and lockdowns.
As you said, it would be nice to not have to weather it all again!
