This was part of year 8 Maths homework, which all of us completely failed to solve. Any math wizards out there help us with the answer? It's from a textbook, so we're assuming it's solvable by a 12-year-old.

When I saw this toot I was thinking "oh, what kind of math? Category theory? Graph theory? Abstract algebra?"

For better or worse the math described seems to be largely tracking calories expended and consumed during the race. I'm afraid I don't have experience with doing higher mathematics at any pace faster than a moderate walk. #mathstodon
