I decided to ease into my hiking in Iceland adventure by doing a Workaway for the first month. I'm staying in a beautiful town called Akranes with a lovely Icelandic family. I'm working part time in exchange for accommodation and food, and I'm able to test my camping/hiking equipment on my days off. So far only my jacket and sleeping pad are a big failure 😁
The Hubba Hubba tent and phantom sleeping bag have held up in below freezing conditions, so that's a relief 😅

in reply to Sasha • • •@12thRITS when I first started going to Iceland, the reforestation programs were very young, as were the very few trees. They would tell this joke: “What do you do if you get lost in an Icelandic forest?” A: “Stand up!”
These days there are actual forests with really big trees (for the Arctic anyway)!
