We would love to update Friendica to the latest version but the @YunoHost package fails to upgrade so we have no choice at the moment. I wish I had the skills to help with it but I don't. We provide a Friendica instance with over 100 users so far and we will continue to do so, but would be fantastic if the ynh dev can make it work so we can upgrade to the latest that supports the Mastodon API, as that allows anyone to use Friendica with any mastodon client, opening up a much better integration with any operating system. Like you can have an app for Friendica on your phone.

I have reported the issues to their github repo here github.com/YunoHost-Apps/frien… and less detailed here github.com/YunoHost-Apps/frien… - if anyone can give them a helping hand... :P

These people work as volunteers so is much appreciated their work!

Hey, can you try to install from this repo github.com/mr-eshua/friendica_… I fixed an issue (I hope). If it won't work, maybe we can try to investigate further. Otherwise, I will propose it to the author of frendica_ynh eventually.

Oh Roma my dear friend what a great surprise! :) - I could try from that repo with sudo yunohost app upgrade friendica -u https://github.com/mr-eshua/friendica_ynh? if thats the right way to do it... I'd also not want to destroy our Friendica haha. Can you also propose teh change directly to the friendica repo?

Yes, I think that command should work. I just fixed a small script syntax error, which could lead to subsequent errors. So if nothing else is broken, it should be fine. It is no good idea to apply to "main" frendica instance frankly.. Maybe it is nice to have some kind of "test" domain for such upgrades first, but I dunno if it is affordable to have :)

Usually @Alexio would have such a test instance but he is taking a break for now. Then I will wait for the dev to push a fix to the main package if you are suggesting the change directly to them. Thanks a lot and I'll update you if all works after it is fixed upstream ;). Thanks a lot!

With the latest version of Friendica yes. But I did not test it....cause we cannot update it. Still issues with the YNH package....

I'll wait for it to roll out completely and test it. I think I still have my account at venera.social that I created back then, I'll test this feature on it and will move to your instance if I'm happy with their implementation.
