Thank you Joan for your kind donation for two hours of birding. I've been doing bits here and there, taking out my phone and Merlin app whenever I hear birdsong on my early morning walks and whenever!
Around Athabasca, the Athabasca river, and the Muskeg Creek trails I've heard:
June 5: Black capped chickadee, red-eyed vireo, tree swallow, american robin
June 12: Crow, red-eyed vireo (This has definitely been a common bird to hear around here this early summer!)
June 13: Chipping swallow, alder flycatcher, song sparrow
June 15: Red-eyed vireo
June 20 at North Country Fair, Driftpile, Alberta (near Lesser Slave Lake). It's a camping festival and when you wake in the morning there's a birdsong serenade. Alder flycatcher, common yellowthroat, black&white warbler, red-eyed vireo, cedar waxwing
Sadly I did not see most of the these lovely birds, only heard them, and have to rely on Merlin's ID...
June 26 at the Athabasca University community garden which has several bird boxes. House wrens were singing and flitting everywhere. There are also swal

Let's see how the rest of the summer goes...will there be different birds?
