Two women are doing video interviews in London's Brick Lane. One has a camera with the lens covered by something the size of a small tablet computer. She is on the left of the picture, her female companion in the middle, and their two subjects, one male and one female are on the right. There is a graffiti-covered wall behind them.

Looking down on London at Christmas

As Christmas approaches and the long nights draw in, London is illuminated by a festive glow.
Throughout this cold, dark winter, photographer Jason Hawkes has been snapping the capital from above.

Even the FBI says you should use an ad blocker

This holiday season, consider giving the gift of security with an ad blocker. That’s the takeaway message from an unlikely source — the FBI — which this week issued an alert warning that cybercriminals are using online ads in search results with the ultimate goal of stealing or extorting money from victims.

Creepy 19th-Century Photos Show What Santa Claus Used To Look Like

These remarkable 19th-century photos reveal that Santa Claus was not always the portly, jolly, red-cheeked figure known today.

A hunchbacked, skinny, and sometimes terrifying man, the fascinating images show what Father Christmas looked like in the 19th century — before he became the cuddly, bearded man marketed to modern-day consumers.

You have to understand that the commonly shown image (at least in North America) is a turn of the century marketing push by Coca-Cola. The scrawny-scary ones are older from before that time.

How to Create AI Images: A Quick Tutorial

Darren Rowse posts:

I’ve recently been creating AI images with Midjourney, and I’ve had some people push back on my work – so I thought maybe it’d be helpful to see the full process. My hope is that, after reading this article, you can see that working with AI to create images is not just about plugging in a few words and watching as the program spits out great photos.

Facing mounting legal battles, 3M quits forever chemicals

It risks losing billions of dollars in lawsuits over PFAS pollution.

Excellent news! Let's hope all the other companies using or producing toxic chemicals do this, too.

You might find bentasker.co.uk/posts/document… a useful start :)
in reply to Tim ☑️ 🔭🌃📷🚴🌳

Thanks. Someone else offered me something similar. I can't use it, though, as I don't know Javascript or the Mastodon API. If someone who is familiar with both offers to code something, I'll point them at this share button.

I'm surprised that no one's coded a bookmarklet yet, as it seems to me that it could get a lot of use among those of us who curate website articles.
