#Journal of a slightly sad and bläh feeling Dutch Pixy (Sunday, 14/09/2025).

I woke up several times during the night. Every time I got about 1½ hours of sleep in one go, and then I'd be awake again due to my leg bothering me or my bladder being annoying (or both at the same time). My sleep score only got to 72 this night, even though that was an increase of 4 points compared to the night before that. But with only a combined 5½ hours of sleep, I did not feel fully charged to take on a new day. My energy score was a lower one as well, going down from 70 the previous night/day to only 56 points today.

I got up, used the scale, and then I dressed and got ready to start the day. Meds were taken, bag was made ready, and I started the walk to the parking where Skoosh would be. We drove to the fitness and all went well. I enjoyed my protein shake while browsing through the social media bits. And then I got my big behind in gear and started my half hour bike ride. It was followed by a half hour walk on the treadmill. Because the gym was rather quiet when I was done with my walk, I decided to head to the Smith machine where I got a few sets in. Yay me! After that, I enjoyed the massage chair, before changing my shoes and heading back home again.

I washed up, changed clothes, and then I got to the couch. I grabbed my tablet and I wrote my journal toot. Switched to my laptop and worked a bit on some other blog posts. After a while, I kind of had to convince myself to get my big behind in gear once more and walk on the treadmill. I managed a decent enough walk, even got it to walking 40 minutes this time.

I made myself some brekky and then I relaxed a bit. Decided that I should ride the bike as well, if I wanted to relax with some gaming later on. So I headed upstairs where I rode my bike for half an hour. After that, I felt like I had done enough exercises for the day. I went back downstairs and grabbed my laptop again where I worked a bit more on a blogpost. I had made a blog post about fitness equipment that I use about two years ago. It had taken me hours to compile and I didn't even mention all the machines, because the post was getting rather long. Now, I finally started working on the second part of the post. I did ask AI to help me at times. I was comparing two machines and I found these pros and cons, but it turned a bit messy when I tried to sum it up. AI did help me with that, and it saved me some time and frustration (I am not too good with creating tables that make sense 😂 ). The post is not done yet, but I think I am making quite some progress on it.

I had a little bite to eat and then I decided I would log into the game. I was hoping to game with a dear friend, but I had not heard from them yet. And I knew that I would enjoy the game if only I'd log on and get into it. Unfortunately, my friend could not join me this time. 😔 I finished up my Corvette and ended the expedition. Then, back in the main game, the Corvette was glitching some. But I took one of my normal planes and I went to a planet to gather "scrap" that I can use to enhance my Corvette (if she will show up for me next time I log on 🤞🏻 ).

After a few hours o trying to collect some scrap, I saved the game and logged off. I took my meds and supplements and I watched some DS9 while just trying to relax. When it was time to get ready for bed, I followed my usual routine and got to bed. It took a little while to fall asleep. And during the night, I woke up 4 times for the loo and due to my leg being annoying. I can't wait for a night with only one or two waking moments...

Around 23:30 I woke up again and decided to start my "day". It had been a wet 'n windy evening and it would probably also be a wet 'n windy night. That's one plus of not needing to walk a dog (for now, as there will be two coming to visit me for almost two weeks starting Monday afternoon). After I used the scale (hey, it was below the 82kg!), I got dressed and started my day.

Good Moo everyone! 🌞 I've just taken Ziggy over for her breakfast after the little rascal spent her out time "frowing my phone to the fwoor" while making "tee hee hee" noises then nipping my hand deliberately, looking me straight in the eye and saying "Uh uh uh!" in a stern voice. Generally causing trouble like the little chaos tornado she is 😊 I did manage to snap a photo of her somehow while trying to get my phone back at one point. Look at that wee face - butter wouldn't melt! 😁

When I woke them up this morning Jadie started whispering to me "Hello girl girl" from out of the darkness at the back of her cage. It's quite creepy as she has that 60- a-day smoker rough old voice when she says it, and with that Aberdonian accent it sounds more like "Ello gal gal" 😊 I know her previous owner was an old man, so it's likely it's his voice she's imitating. She still has a lot of phrases we haven't figured out yet even after having her for three years. One , said again in a very rough voice , sounds like "Where's yer car?!" She always shouts that one loudly.

Grant and I didn't manage our co-op BG3 session as planned yesterday as I ended up being too tired to play, but we'll set a date for next weekend when Ethera and Grognak will venture into the fray again! 😊

Plans for today were to clean out the bathroom cabinet, but my energy levels are too low to risk it, so new plan is just to chill and watch some stuff instead as I need what energy I can muster for work tomorrow again. I may do some gentle crochet too. One of my many WIPs 🙂

For just over a year I’ve had a standing ritual with a few of my oldest friends. We call them our mental health walks. It started after one of us admitted he was struggling, so we arranged to get him out of the house with a few friends we grew up with. What began as a way to clear our heads has become something much bigger. Once or twice a month, no matter the weather, we head out into the woods together. Rain, wind, sunshine. It doesn’t matter. We lace up our boots and walk.

x20;We catch up on life, and plan future trips. We laugh about old stories. We rarely talk about the stresses of our day to day. We notice the birds, the deer, the cows, and once even a firefly. At some point along the way, there is usually a country pub where we stop for a pint or two before turning back.

It is simple, but it works. A few hours away from the noise of work and home. A bit of exercise, a lot of fresh air, and the space to reset. I look forward to it every time. It matters, especially for men, to have these kinds of breaks. A routine that cuts through stress. A reminder that it is healthy to step away, to move, to talk, to breathe.

Here is a picture from our last walk. I shot it on an iPhone 16 with a 3-second exposure and was surprised by how much light it captured.

My brain decided to play Duran Duran's "Hungry like the wolf" today. 😅

It's a song that I first heard on The Simpsons. I can't remember why exactly Homer was hungry in that one. 😅

I was aware of Duran Duran before, but only by name. This song really stuck with me. I wish I could put together a song like that. I know it's not too hard, but you need someone to get the right ideas to fill it with life.

"I'll just make some noise on the guitar and then you'll howl like a wolf, yeah?"
"Whenever we move into this part I'll do a sick bend and hold it for like... ever, man."

And the chord change from verse to chorus is probably the most obvious thing in the world, but it just signals "hell yeah, this is fun!" to me like nothing else.

I also love what the singer is doing at the very end, jumping to different notes to keep the endlessly repeating refrain interesting.

Small details, but I just don't get these ideas, so I always feel like my songs end up a bit flat and boring. 😢

Also... I still know nothing about Duran Duran. If these guys turned out to be huge dicks, feel free to call me out. I'm always afraid of accidentally promoting bigots and nowadays you just can't be sure anymore.

At the same time, I'm always happy to hear the sunny side too. Maybe they are super active in charities or just exceedingly decent human beings.
