Mom was discharged from the rehab facility today and is finally home, where she's already much more cognitively present. She played Solitaire on her phone and got to the bathroom and back to her recliner by herself (using her walker). Sis and I assembled and placed her potty support bars, and Mom likes them. We have her meds sorted for the week, all her stuff unpacked and put away, and even though every part of my body is whining about being demanded to work, I'm so, so, SO happy!

While I do lament the fact that the water here is colder than I would like, it does temper the air temps year round. With an Atlantic breeze coming from 2km away, we do not get the wild swings in temp that inland Portugal have. That said, I did measure 14mm of rain from that little rain we just had a few days ago.

Thursday came in wearing a Christmas hat they had just bought from Tescoβ’ so they were summarily evicted for gross commercialism!
They've been let off the hook now they've taken it off & we are enjoying a mug of coffee together.
A sunny morning with broken cloud here in deepest, darkest Yorkshire with a current temp of about 9.5ΒΊC & an expected high of 15ΒΊ.
There might be a trip out to the surplus shop later if I can get my act into gear.
We're having a cooked lunch - the corned beef crisp bakes I got on the last foraging mission with baked beans. We have a free energy slot over lunch time so best to make the most of it!

Welp, #myday has been quite the ol slog fest to slide through this morning.π

The slow going, mosy moving, sorta slacking n sofa searching kinda days.π«€
But I DID manage to get my musta-doin Honey-doins done.πͺπ Though at a much slower pace than Heather's hollerings appreciated. π
Now, I'm just facing a couple more to tackle after lunch. Then I can seek out the sofa n get comfy on my couch and maybe catch up on a nap. ππ₯±
But first, to the fridge for lunchtime foraging and searching out more coffee for some needed extra sipping. π

It's not for me.
I can't stand the GitHub "actions" with their versions syntax. I'm fine with YAML, but I like using Woodpecker more, where I can just throw in a container name and know exactly what environment I'm running commands in.
My idea was to move my workflows off of Codeberg's infrastructure. I'm not using much computing power, but I run jobs daily to check for package updates. Maybe I'll just set up my own Woodpecker instance. π€

This morning I've been asked to doggy sit two choccy Labs for about 10 days. They're two ladies, age 10 & 6. They belong to my ex BF and his partner. His partner breeds with choccy Labs, and I am on her waiting list to hopefully be able to adopt a choccy lady next year.
It will be weird to have two choccy ladies in my house. I don't really know these ladies, I've seen them several times. But never been on my own with them.
I'm sure they will behave themselves and all that. I do hope that I will be able to give them the care and attention that they need.
But it will also be difficult to be with two choccy galls again... Some memories and all that...
Don't know the dates yet, waiting for more details. πΎ
So yeah, let's see if I will be doggy sitting soon. π

It's a good sign that she trusts me with her galls as well. π As I do hope to be able to get a puppy from her next nest next year... But I guess it can be a bit emotional at times as well yeah... π
We should normalise wearing name tags at any party or social gathering with more than three to six people.
Yes, even ones where people supposedly already know each other.
For some things I have a memory that consistently impresses most people. Or at least used to. For remembering names, and especially matching them with faces? Or even matching faces/names to people I know e.g. online? I'm abysmal and it causes me a lot of stress even in social settings where people like me and I like people.

A battery indicator on a name badge, or even spoons. I currently have 5 spoons ...
years ago I read a "helpful hint" that boiled down to: form a sensible association between (a) the person's name and (b) the situation in which you met. A word-association-thing to ensure that you will you remember the name.
I tried it, once, at parties. At the second party, I clearly and correctly remembered the person's name:
Fridge Face.
Yes, that's it. You were standing in front of a tall fridge when we met, and chatted. You are Fridge Face.
