Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 683 , Wednesday 10/09/2025
Wednesday started just after 6am, I was going to put a 2nd wash on but discovered I had forgotten to set the timer for last nights cycle - thankfully there was still enough time to run the cycle on the cheap tariff.
A fairly unspectacular day, the highlight was watching a movie called 'Sisu' a WW2 movie about a Rambo type character in Finland. Slightly reminiscent of Tarantino. I enjoyed it.
Played a little NMS & Cyberpunk 2077 today too.
Final Thoughts.
Just an ordinary day.

Owwww it all depends on how much my body is allowed and able to do...
I enjoy walking/hiking, preferably with a (furry) loved one. But for now, I'm using my treadmill for my revovery. ๐
I enjoy going to the fitness, where cardio speaks to my ADHD side. But I am trying to add strength as well, which can be nice when I notice I'm improving...
I like to swim, but it can be hard for me with my hip and fibro. I've never been super good at it, but getting a few lanes in can feel nice.

I've had a disturbed night, as I woke up a few times due to my leg and the loo. The scale was a little less nice, I've really hit a plateau (webmd.com/obesity/weight-loss-โฆ ๐ to more info on a plateau) and I hope that when my body heals again, I'll be able to break through it. I know I need to switch my routine and all that, but at the moment, I just need to find a routine that works for me. And I need to "get better" at dealing with my grief, as it influences me quite a bit now. So, not too focused on that now although it would be nice if the numbers would *finally* get below the 80 at some point... ๐
Ah well, let's get ready to to get to work here at the gym! I've been a bit distracted, I read something that reminded me that I needed to make some changes in my energy app. So, I did it straight away to be sure I would not forget.

Well, I think I have to cut my warming up ride short... "My bike" was taken and the one I'm on now is below the very loud speakers ๐ even though I have my NC headphones on, I still hear the noise from the speakers and it annoys me greatly.
To be fair, I just hate music in places anyway, especially when it's a place where most folks will either bring their own music... Most people at the gym wear buds or headphones
and enjoy their own music. So the loud stuff they present as music here it's just annoying... But that's just my autistic take on it... ๐
Let's see if I can slowly try the crosstrainer for a wee bit after this. Just a *very* short try, but I wanna know how good it will go (or how bad...).

is there an iphone/ipad 7 minute workout app people like? It's unclear if the original J&J one still exists anywhere or not, or which one on the iphone it is now.
but any recommendations would be appreciated!
(and yeah, I know, I don't *need* an app to do this. So if you're going to reply with that comment, don't bother.)

To avoid the world, I've been reading a lot. SFF, nonfiction, fiction, etc. But over the past few years I have kept coming back to the Inspector Maigret series by Georges Simenon. There are approximately 75 of them, and I've read almost a quarter of them. They were all written between 1931 and 1975 or so, they're not too long (150 pages on average), and somehow Simenon managed to be a strikingly good observer of personality. In my mind, he's as good a psychological writer as almost anyone else.
Definitely recommend if mysteries and quick, accurate sketches of people are your thing.

Not sure if I have the reach here, but I've an offer for any photogs-on-a-budget that might be interested.
I've got a Tamron 70-300mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD E-Mount lens that I'm not going to be needing. Is in nearly-flawless condition. I made a semi-irrational purchase on a better lens last night, so...
Rather than sell it on eBay, I'd much rather get it into the hands of a student or enthusiast that normally could not own that kind of gear.

FYI: Many drugstores have the new COVID vaccine available.
My pharmacy (CVS in California) had a checkbox to confirm I'm eligible, but their eligibility list included something like "are you inactive?" and I was sitting on my sofa at the time so I was like "yep!" and I was able to get my shot today, so hopefully it will help you "qualify" as well.
I can't speak for other states or pharmacies, but I'd recommend checking it out!

Well, I did it, sort of...
I managed a 20 minutes walk on the treadmill, like earlier this night, and I got to 1,26km again.
I am glad that I did it. But somehow I still feel like I should have walked further, faster, and all that... ๐ Stupid brain...
But now, some food and relaxing before I will head to my parents place.

We have a tariff called Economy 7 in the UK, essentially it runs from about midnight to about 7am, the rate is significantly cheaper than any other (non-solar) rate being about ½ the rate during the day, the downside is that the 'day' rate is higher than a none E7 tariff. One has to make sure that one uses big appliances overnight - so washing machine / dishwasher are on timers & run while we sleep.
The 'free' electricity is separate. When they forecast that energy generation (via renewables) will exceed energy usage some electricity suppliers will allow their customers a window (usually an hour, but occasionally 2) where any electricity they use over the amount they would normally use at that time of day is free.
So for instance if a free period was between 1pm and 2pm & one were to normally use about 2KWh of electricity in that window, if one were to use say 4KWhs in that time one would only pay for t
