I’ve setup a new account in Ingress to play some more. I’ve never been a good player, and I don’t understand much of the game… But, it helps me to have a purpose when “needing” to go out for walkies. So, I use it when I go out, and while playing, I hope to learn more about it. And not only get better at walking, but also get better at playing the game.

While trying to find a new routine, I’ve also found some time last weekend to enjoy some No Man’s Sky, Expedition #19 Corvette, with a very sweet friend of mine. I’ve been playing NMS on and off for about 2½ years now. I started with a dear friend who told me about this game. Then I met another friend, who introduced me to the expeditions. And lately, I have been enjoying the expeditions with the first playing friend again… And a new one recently started!

So yeah let’s share a bit of that to start the new week 😉.

I have never been very good at gaming. But when games offer what I call “baby settings”, which is usually something like “story mode”, than I am always willing to try it, should it interest me. Several years ago, a sweet friend told me about No Man’s Sky. I may have written a blog post about it, lemme check the dusty archives of Cynni’s journey through life. 😉Gaming – No Man’s Sky I wrote this in March 2023, and I think that’s when I just started the game. There have been a few times where I could not enjoy gaming too much, for several reasons. But now, I am trying to find a new routine in my life, and I think/hope that gaming will be part of it.

I hope that with the mobile game of Ingress, I can make my lonely walks more enjoyable. It’s just hard for me to go out and walk without a purpose, so maybe the game can offer me one. I used to play it a while ago, but I never enjoyed it much, due to some various reasons… 😕But now, a new town, a new account, a whole new situation… Maybe it could be better this time around. Although the bits I knew about the game have kinda been forgotten .🥴So I need to re-learn as much as I can. The sweet friend that told me about No Man’s Sky also knows about Ingress, so maybe I can “pick her brain” for some tips and all. I know the web is full of it, but I need to learn by doing it and being able to ask questions while doing the actions… If that makes sense… 🤔

There is this big green field over our area. Yeah, go to the widest points you can find by car, post the bits and “take it all”. It looks awesome, especially for the “frogs” 🐸, as the green teamplayers are apparently called. And maybe I would think it more cool if it were done by my team. But somehow, it seems a bit lazy as well. There are so many points that ca be conquered and maintained. Just taking the 3 widest points to cover a huge area, yeah… So, in the middle of the big green, I have started to try and make little blue patches. Simple, by foot, so the game can stimulate me going out on my own. So I can have “something to do”, while working on my recovery after the surgeries. While I write this, its been a few days, and I have been trying to get some longer walks in. So, as of this morning (Sunday, 07/09/2025), this was the screen that the Ingress map showed me:

I hope that, some day, I can maybe do a voip call to my friend while out and about with the Ingress game. Maybe she can talk me through the most important things then. But I’ve tried to check out some of the options, and it seems with my almost level 4, I need to level some more to be able to get access to more of the options… So, best keep walking and trying to improve to get to a higher level… 💙🩵💙

Early March 2023, a sweet friend and I were talking about coop games that could be played across different consoles. I had gotten a new PS5 in December 2022, and was looking for some cool games. She played on a PS4 when she could borrow it from her daughter, and she had one of the X-box variants available to herself. She talked very enthusiastically about the game “No Man’s Sky”, so I went to find the cheapest version of the game I could find. One shop had the physical game on sale, so I ordered and it arrived on March 8th. Our journey began, and I was so confused 😂…

After a while, a new friend I made also mentioned playing the game. But he was a bit more into it than I had ever been, so he talked about many things that were foreign to me… We hooked up online and he taught me some bits and bops. And… He introduced me to the world of Expeditions… I got the hang of it, sort of, and when my other friend and I hooked up again, I was able to teach her a few things. We even had a few sessions with the three of us, but sometimes they turned a bit chaotic, with 3 different NeuroSpicy 🌶️ folks around… 😇

Lately, I’ve not gamed too much. With the surgeries, with Arwen’s passing, with all the trauma and grief that gripped me by the throat… 😢 I’ve not been too “up” for it. But now, I kinda need to find a new routine for myself. I need to discover what works best. When to relax, when to be busy… How to relax, how to divide chores, appointments, and exercising. I had a routine that worked for me and Arwen, but most of it was focused on my girl’s needs, wants, and capabilities. Now, it’s just me, and I find it very hard to deal with. So, in a way I guess, I’m also hoping that gaming, especially when it can be combined with a co-op chat, will be able to help me relax and socialize.

Last week, Expedition #19 Corvette started in No Man’s Sky. I started it last weekend, and there’s a lot to learn… 😇 When you struggle with depth/3D on a TV, then building things can be a challenge, especially when you have no idea what to expect. 😂 That’s part of the fun as well, I know… But sometimes I just wish that I could “just get it” and “do it right” from the start, if that can ever be done in a game like this. Let’s save the post and get to the game. I have a little fugly Corvette that needs a lot of redesigning and some TLC I guess… 😉

Ello sweet and lovely (gaming) Friendos

Yesterday morning, I played some more Ingress to help me get a bit of a longer walk in. A little while ago, another blue player had been in town and they had placed some bits here and there for me (I believe the player was/is called BoDenHaag, so thank you to them!).

I tried to walk a longer bit so I could reach some other portals. The walk went well and I managed a wee bit of improvement. The first screenshot is from the 3rd, the other one I made after walkies yesterday.

I'm not really sure how to play it well, but a sweet friend of mine knows more about it. So I may have to pick their brain to learn a bit more about it... 😇
