The room stays dark, and everything happens out there — a neighbour's roof, the hill behind it, a soft grey sky. Some mornings that's enough.

Looking out of a window from inside a dark room. The room itself is almost black, so the lit window fills the centre of the picture. A white lace curtain with a scalloped edge hangs across the upper third. On the wooden sill stand three potted plants, dark against the light: a small round-leaved one in a pale pot on the left, a bushy green plant in a square pot in the middle, and a spiky, arching plant in a terracotta pot on the right. Next to them lie a small flat tin and a bunch of keys, and a dark red glass bottle stands at the right edge. Outside there is a house with a brown tiled roof and pale walls, and behind it a green wooded hill rising into a soft, overcast white sky. The light is low, warm and quiet. Are any of you UK or France based film photographers? I want to take a bunch of 35mm film to France soon via Brittany Ferries. I’ve read conflicting accounts of X-rays on vehicles damaging film but can’t find anything conclusive. I know airports with modern scanners are problematic, but does anybody have any experience with Brittany Ferries? Boosts welcome, and thanks.

Edit: I have the answer now thanks. The short answer is ferry car scanners do not damage 35mm film. 🎞️
