I've been working on updating a decision making process in a #coop from #voting to #consensus inspired by #ietf #decisionMaking process when a colleague made me realize that consensus process is not compatible with many #neurodivergent cognitive styles. It disproportionately favors #Neurotypicals and extraverted ppl while putting more introverted and less verbal type people at a disadvantage. Also it's yet another "social capital" dominated decision making process. Less social capital - less likely you'll actually speak up against the crowd.

The "no one left behind" goal is not fulfilled by the "no loud opposition" decision process. What process does that? We're staying with the simplistic voting for now but adding a prolonged debate. Any ideas? How other #cooperatives do that? Especially #anarchist ones?

Don't rely on RCS!

Unfortunately, #RCS is worse than #SMS. (It used to be worse than #CVS, but that was something completely different.)

#FreeSoftware operating systems can easily support SMS and even #MMS, e.g. with #ModemManager. RCS is completely locked into #BigTech #duopoly Google + Apple and cannot be supported by #Mobian or free Android flavours.

Use #RFC6120 instead. Open, free, #standardised, federated #InstantMessaging for all!

I have been in a few of the many, many conversations this week at #IETF regarding if and how to built new Internet protocols for AI agents, and I have so many questions. So many, but maybe also just one. Are we ultimately moving towards building a separate internet (lowercase on purpose) just for AI? Is that what all these discussions lead to?

FWIW, I think that’s probably a terrible idea. I don’t think I’ve heard anything that suggests the problems we’re attempting to solve are specific to agentic AI. AI, as always, makes things go faster (and so scale is a legit problem) but the discovery problems, the identification problems, the authentication and authorization problems… they aren’t precisely new. There are more of them, and there are questions as to whether agents have any right to privacy, but do we need entirely new protocols to account for that?

Looks like a third of the side-meetings at #IETF 126 are about AI. I mean, if we must, we must, but I am concerned that I don't see any signs of converging on solutions.
