I've been working on updating a decision making process in a #coop from #voting to #consensus inspired by #ietf #decisionMaking process when a colleague made me realize that consensus process is not compatible with many #neurodivergent cognitive styles. It disproportionately favors #Neurotypicals and extraverted ppl while putting more introverted and less verbal type people at a disadvantage. Also it's yet another "social capital" dominated decision making process. Less social capital - less likely you'll actually speak up against the crowd.

The "no one left behind" goal is not fulfilled by the "no loud opposition" decision process. What process does that? We're staying with the simplistic voting for now but adding a prolonged debate. Any ideas? How other #cooperatives do that? Especially #anarchist ones?

It is the year 2025, and people are still completely ignorant (not only) towards autistic people. Dear neurotypical people, I apologize for my existence bothering you so much. But I live in a neurotypical world that is not designed for me, not you in a neurodivergent one. I am the one who is rejected, insulted, bullied, and discriminated against just because I don't fit into your perception of the world.

I apologize for annoying you by wanting to have the same rights and opportunities in life as you do. Unfortunately, not everyone is lucky enough to be born into a world that is built according to their needs.

A few days ago, I wrote here that I had been on a successful date, thanks to which I secured a second date, and that I couldn't enjoy these pleasant feelings because I was afraid that I would end up suffering anyway. Unfortunately, my fears came true. There will be no second date, the woman in question has "changed her mind," and so I can calmly continue my routine suffering, with thoughts of death.

We’re driving to my son’s taekwondo lesson. They do group sessions. I hear a big sigh. What’s wrong?

“I’m feeling anxious.”

“About what?”

“People.”

I get that. It is a thing. But it’s also good to find ways to enjoy the things we like (taekwondo) despite the things we often don’t (people).

I’m glad he’s mindful of what’s going on inside and sharing. I like that we can talk about that. This, RFK, not magic “cures.”

Many of these elements tie in with a) social interactions, and b) an ability to detect and express emotions.

However, it's important to note that these states can be beneficial from an evolutionary standpoint... as we may be better attuned to pick up on danger (predators!), notice extraneous (but possibly relevant) details, etc.

When I meet people, I tend to like the person quickly - especially if they are physically likeable, have similar interests, and are easy to communicate with. This happens especially when dating women. But I consider this a problem, as 99% of the time I only disappoint myself, hurt myself, and often this behavior only drives the women away.

Even though I am aware of this behavior, I can't control it very much, so it happens over and over and over again. This is not a bad trait, as I am only enjoying the person in question. Could it be related to my autism? Do other autistic people have similar experiences?

I feel very isolated and don't know how to get out of it. I don't have any friends in my neighbourhood, and I can't make any new ones. My social anxiety, shyness and autistic communication problems don't allow me to go out to meet people. My depression, in turn, won't let me do absolutely anything, as I have no desire and often no energy to do anything - the only thing I want to do is lie in bed. It's very frustrating, and it deepens my depression and reluctance to live even more.

> One striking theme involved genes that guide how distant #brain regions talk to each other. Visual-processing circuits appeared to run hotter, while the so-called default mode network, linked to daydreaming and social reflection, ran cooler. Those connectivity signatures match traits many #autistic individuals report – keen pattern recognition alongside social fatigue.
