This was kinda unexpected, but I totally understand why you had to let it go.
in reply to Rokosun

Yes I didnt even want to mention to anyone since I didnt want for anyone to convince me otherwise :D - I needed to let it go for my own sanity. Too much to deal with...and there are more sustainable ways to read saner news like I explained in the article.

You've got to love #capitalism

This app will interrupt your day
with a bell at random times,
to remind you to NOT let your mindfulness be interrupted.

The app is free.

If you don't want to be interrupted
You got to pay.

"If you don't want to be interrupted

Or...uninstall the app?

in reply to Grymt

I'm sorry a software company tried to make it scary for you to uninstall a mindfullness app. It must have been a harrowing experience for you.
in reply to AKingsbury

Thank you, that's sweet. However, I didn't install it, nor did it scare me.

I was pointed to it by someone, and didn't need it as I already have an alarm on my phone, but read the small text anyway out of curiosity. I actually thought it was quite funny. Although I agree with you it's funny in a harrowing way, just as capitalism almost always is.

The app is recommended by some therapists. I think those therapists may be in need of some therapy themselves.

Also I REALLY recommend everyone to read the Terms Of Service (especially about privacy & costs) before installing ANY app. It's quite unbelievable what people will install without checking, and what commercial app stores (Google, Apple) will allow.

"Although I agree with you it's funny in a harrowing way, just as capitalism almost always is."

I wish I found it surprising that you apparently feel the need or impulse to express agreement with me on a position I never took.

in reply to AKingsbury

You said harrowing, I agree. What's wrong with that, and why do you seem to be insulted now? I'm thanking you?
in reply to Grymt

"You said harrowing, I agree."

Me using a single word does not mean I'm agreeing with any phrase you decide to insert that word into.

"What's wrong with that, and why do you seem to be insulted now? I'm thanking you?"

I'm hardly insulted. I'm just pointing out that your commentary is flawed.

in reply to Grymt

#idiocracy and the origin of this idiocracy is TRADE! This app would hit the top place for uninstalls. Lol

Q is for Query & Question

How do you critically analyze sources of information to decide what to believe? I'm glad this post makes the point, just being cynical and disbelieving of everything is not the answer. There are a lot of angles to look at. Personally, I think about if I were challenged by someone from a different political perspective, could I defend this source of information? If I suspect it may be biased, even and especially in a way I agree with, I look for backup collaborating information elsewhere. #ethicalrevolution #TheOnlyWayisEthics #CriticalThinking

A deserted fun park where we stayed for many days - videos.trom.tf/w/xyEUcN6iuYSdJ…

Isla del Zujar is probably a popular place in the summer, but off season it is totally deserted. And no phone service at all. But we had plenty of solar power and satellite internet so we could stay for many days there. It was very relaxing, quiet, dark, and some hiking places near by. So nice!

Reclaiming Assessment Through Annotation

I have just published a new blog post: Reclaiming Assessment Through Annotation

Annotation is often treated as a peripheral academic skill. But what if we made it central to how we assess learning in online and distance education?

In this post, I explore how annotation supports critical digital pedagogy, enables authentic forms of assessment, and offers resilience against the growing influence of generative AI.
