Exactly....I know that it feels like you are doing a good thing when you recycle those plastic bottles, and caps and whatever, but while you do that be honest with yourself and accept that this is kinda pointless in the end. We need systemic solutions to stop the madness of plastic production in the first place....else we think that just because we have some recycling bins and we recycle the plastic, we are doing something about this issue.

yeah, good point. Also quality of plastic downgrade after each cycle, so you can recycle it only few times, and each time there will be less and less products you can make out of it, because quality will be lower and lower.

Yep, exactly! That is why reducing the amout of packaging should be the way, not recycling of it. So many of the packages are useless (like bottled water) and are usually there to create an "attractive product" to compete, with multiple colors, mixed materials and others.
Also, the recycled goods will also end up in the trash again, but this time, as you pointed out, will no longer be possible to recycle it anyway, so what is the point?

As a side note I cannot find an RSS feed for the newrepublic.com/climate category to add to TROMnews....if anyone can help out that'd be great!
in reply to Tio

I couldn't find either 😔 That's pity they do not provide RSS themselves..

Also I just saw this news on TROMnews "UK gives £600m backing to Jim Ratcliffe’s ‘carbon bomb’ petrochemical plant " theguardian.com/environment/20…

"Campaigners say Ineos project in Antwerp will turbocharge plastic production on a scale not seen before in Europe"

So yeah...what a timing....what can you say...

What fuckers.. geez. And all of that together with an effort of EU to reduce usage of single-used plastics. Yeah, when big buck is in the game, an urge for profits is unstoppable..
