your post made me curious, I never heard of anyone talking about Fujitsu laptops before, the repairability and Linux friendly aspect sounds great!

Unfortunately, they don't sell them in N. America:(

in reply to LPS

You can find them via ebay canada for example ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_…

Am telling you they are quite good for such a low price. The lifebook E series one I recommend. Of course I buy them second hand not new. The battery so far lasts just 2-3 hours max. They are made in 2014.

But yeah, 100 Euros for such a laptop is really cheap.

Fujitsus and Vaios were beautiful laptops

I've heard of Vaio too. Is there a very cheap model you'd recommend?
in reply to Tio

I had a Sony Vaio Pocket, but it is too slow for nowadays tasks. There are several models out to look for, but used mint laptops are expensive since it is now sort of collectible item. Cheap and maybe beated up like this ebay.com/itm/334558204984

That core i7 is great for most tasks. It seems a bit better than the i3 I currently test on the Fujitsu. I mean you can watch any sort of videos, open lots of tabs, visit any website, stream....documents, photos, whatever. Right?

It does look quite bulky that Vaio. Was it well built? I am sick of plastic laptops to be honest.

Look at this beauty ebay.com/itm/255790120018

Yup looks very good but ofc 500 Dollars is quite a lot for what I'm eyeing :) . Also, again, metal build partially or?

As i said, mint vaios are now collectibles. Panasonic CF-52 are good laptops, quite heavy but very resistant --> here is another ebay.com/itm/403908768405

Toughbooks are very well built. CF-31s also have a magnesium chasis. You won't regret them, also runs very cool and perform well under stress, they are semi-rugged laptops, see --> youtube.com/watch?v=ykcVSgTd5A… or youtube.com/watch?v=hQJxvctxc3… and the drop test --> youtube.com/watch?v=R5GD_cQC1s…

These are mostly made for military, first responders, and such I believe. A bit extreme for normal use in my view. But interesting nevertheless.

CF-31 for the millitary, but semi-rugged like CF-52 or CF-C2 are mostly for field work, so for home use surely lasts forever. I'm an anti-planned obsolescence guy.

You can get a Panasonic Toughbook also, they are unbeatable and designed for last for life. I have a CF-31 which is a damn brick, but there are some thinner models like this one --> ebay.com/itm/185627421074 or this --> ebay.com/itm/325369396127

Oh wow yeah that Panasonic Toughbook CF-C2 looks like a tank. Kinda bulky tho but I never head of this one. Is really interesting
