404 Media's @jasonkoebler and ProPublica's @ben are discussing how the #fediverse helps #publishers in the latest episode of @mike's #DotSocial podcast. Highly recommended.

This struck me particularly:

Ben is making the case that the Fediverse is the means by which publishers can re-take the initiative with technology instead of simply having to live with whatever the platforms decide. That is powerful stuff!

Good on the German authorities who set up the Sovereign Tech Fund. To help fund the maintenance of core software that most people have never heard, but depend on every day. I want to see every government in the world setting up a similar fund, and having them coordinate their efforts.

Do you think factories could be built if all wealth were distributed evenly? If there are no factories then what is all that equal wealth going to buy you? This is the problem with communism / socialism, it's been demonstrated many times throughout history and still fuckwits want to repeat this experiment again. Some people just can't get enough of suffering and death.

Insurer Blue Cross Blue Shield agrees to $2.8bn antitrust settlement

US insurer Blue Cross Blue Shield has agreed to pay $2.8bn
to resolve antitrust class-action claims by hospital systems, physicians and other health providers
alleging they were underpaid for reimbursements, the plaintiffs said in an Alabama federal court filing recently.

The settlement is the largest ever for a healthcare antitrust case, they added.

Blue Cross Blue Shield denied the allegations in a statement but said it agreed to the settlement and to make operational changes to “put years of litigation behind us”.

The agreement is subject to approval from US district judge R David Proctor.

"If I were a betting man I would bet that in five years it will keep on using the centralized DID Placeholder, and that that will be a root cause of a lot of shenanigans."

You don't even have to bet, because they just publicly gave up one of their core promises:

Slotted Actions demonstration

Dr. Sybren shows how to work with Slotted Actions, a feature coming to Blender 4.4.

In older Blender versions, this animation would have been spread across three different Actions, but using slots it can all be neatly stored in one Action instead.
