I love TROM.tf :) - so many awesome trade-free services! Today I spent all day working on this website, to test more stuff, improve other. I have 2 more on my list for now, that I wanted to add for a while: a notes service that syncs between any device + a trello alternative which is super useful for projects/teams. I am testing both of them. I'd also like to add more apps to tromjaro's library. But tomorrow I'll focus on TROM II again. #ŧromlive
I worked a lot on TROM II today. So far I love it. But it is only the beginning...at this point I have no idea if it will be 2-3 hours long, or 12-13 hours long...let's see. This is so easy to grasp when you understand what a trade-based society is: A human wants to make a car that's better. Better should mean: safer, easy to access, maybe faster, more comfortable, less polluting and such. Better should be encapsulated in what it means to be a car. What is the purpose of a car. In the same way that a cancer treatment is measured in how well it defeats the cancer, what are the side effects, and such. But not the price of it. It is teh value of a treatment encapsulated inside the medical field.
So if human A wants to make a better car, it should be a better car. That's all. However when human A wants to trade this car, then human A needs to find ways to to that. So it will add up what "better" means inside of this trade-based society, Useless features, colors, and such.

The video I sent you is of a tech channel, so yeah, its mostly talking from a tech perspective. One difference between these videos is that one is explaining how tesla is a fraud and the other is explaining how tesla could become a threat as a monopoly. This is just like how Facebook started out, and now everyone is trapped in this vendor lock-in.
I can say that this guy is not a supporter of google, and he even make videos about why google is bad. What he meant here is that an open standard is better than a closed one. Surely Android is not a good example of this, linux would be something closer (he's a linux supporter too). But here he mentioned android cause he was comparing between companies. And if google didn't choose the open source path, things like ungoogled chromium, lineageOS, calyxOS, grapheneOS etc. wouldn't be possible.
Its true that both of these companies are evil, everyone knows that. But its just about choosing the lesser evil here, cause sadly that's our only choice. I mean, I don't know of any trade-free car company/provider.
The lesser "evil" is not as lesser I'd say, and also it can become the "main evil" just as easy. I won't choose between apple and google, I would choose a trade-free linux and I'll make the point why. The same way I won't choose fair-trade products to buy and think they are better than Nestle or whatever. Both are "evil". So I would not choose sides between Pepsi and Coca Cola, i would look for other alternatives and if there are none, I won't support any of those. :P
Also, a trade-free car company seems impossible since it is a "company" after all. But there are plenty free-er transportation systems like subways, autonomous EVs in UK made by the gov, or whatever. They should showcase such examples if they are really serious ;).
Maybe you're more strict about these stuff than I am. But I'm thinking like "Let's not make perfect the enemy of good". I don't think we'll ever be able to end trade in an instant. It'll probably come step by step and I'll support anything that'll directly or indirectly support this goal. For example, I'll support laws that helps reduce work time. This would give people more time to learn, think, volunteer for something and explore projects like TROM and others.
But I'll say one thing for sure, I don't like endorsing or supporting any commercial entity, be it google, apple, tesla, or any so called "fair trade" companies. Because at the end of the day, the goal for a company is to make profit. And what's profit ? If you're getting back more that you put in, that's profit. How can such a thing really be ethically right.

Yeah, the examples you gave are much better. If there are transportation systems and vehicles funded by governments, that's a good alternative, not a "company". Again, this is because the force of trade is lower, just like you wrote in your book :)
No, I get you. But we need some Stallmans here and there. Meaning, we need to keep the "pure" version of an idea somewhere, else we lose the meaning of it. However if you know a few bits about reality, then you realize that what you do there is even more interesting - you are transforming organic matter into tissue and energy, then expel what you could not process :D. And the brown color is because of dead cells as far as I know. In any case, it is a weird thing that we do and makes you think....think about energy, digestion, and about who you are because at the end of the day, that apple you eat, the chocolate bar, that roasted chicken....they transform into you. Can I suggest something here. When I looked at the rejected items page, I saw some duplicates there. Apparently some people were submitting things that had already been rejected, but they didn't knew. I think It'd be nice if someone could search through all the rejected items before submitting a new item (this should be advised in the documentation as well). This could make things easier for all. @aaron
We auto detect based on the title when a project is already submitted and showcase a warning. So far only 1 submission was duplicated in the rejected category because the name was "disroot" and "disroot.org".

While we went camping around Cadaques here in Spain (and yes, very beautiful area), we noticed the plastic pollution. You see, with the climate change you may not see its effects that in-your-face. Unless you are someone who knows a lot about climate and are able to look at the data to see the differences, you are not very moved by what you witness. You, the no-expert and no-science-heavy human cannot grasp the climate change crisis very well. It is the same with other problems such as the biodiversity loss, or the destruction of forests and so forth. But plastic...it is something that's so fucking visible everywhere you go in nature and near the ocean.

We then had to walk in the dark for a bit to go to the nearest beaches that were a bit less secluded. First beach was ok it seemed, but there were people there so we had to move on. Plastic is a wonder material really. So resilient, so malleable, so strong if you need it to be. You can package stuff and store it for a while, you can make cases and all kinds of objects. But because of our trade-based society, humans abuse this material since all they want is to trade trade trade. Unless we change this game, you will keep on seeing such problems. Plastic is just one of the wonder materials humans invented. There will be a lot more.

I've been hiking for a few days with the awesome @Sasha . Something new to me. I handled it well, but damn it is hard. This girl is really tough. And smart and awesome :). So we did like 25km and she has to do, in theory, another 820km haha. Nuts! She wants to go through all of the Pyrenees. And she's on her way there. I only joined her for a few days, that was the deal ;). In any case, I hope she manages to do it.
Once she comes back she will work to release her book, that's not only about her journey but also about how trade fucks things up. In the meantime, now that I am fully alone, I will focus on editing the TROM II documentary. That's my priority. #tromlive

Blockchain is a completely different thing. It is like coupling the Internet with Paypal. Blockchain is a very useful technology (and quite old) - as we explain it in detail in our book, here tromsite.com/books/#flipbook-d… . Unfortunately Blockchain, which is simply a more secure and transparent way to keep track of "transactions" or "interactions", is used to invent currencies. Instead it could be used to keep track of medical records, biodiversity, or the nights you could not sleep because you were too aroused, since pretty much anything is more relevant than using it to create a currency. So the Internet is a great invention. Paypal....not really, unless you compare it with traditional banking, in which case yes Paypal is slightly better (easier to use, faster, etc.). Same way Bitcoin or other similar cryptocurrencies, are slightly better than say Paypal-like entities, or banks.
But that's like saying hanging yourself is better than jumping from a 20 story building, because you can hang yourself at home, you feel less pain because the rope cuts the blood supply to your brain and you pass out very quickly, and you argue it is more safe because jumping from such a tall building you can land on someone else's head and kill them. To which I agree, hanging seems better. But that's the only difference between Bitcoin (handing), and jumping from a 20 story building (banks). But you are still dead... In the end both are currencies and both lead to massive corruption, inequality, lies, and the continuation of the game of trade that consumes us and the planet. And soon the rest of the solar system. Same shit.
The UN continues:

What do you expect, UN? For the players of the game of trade to care about their competitors and other humans? They cannot afford that. This will be a loss for them. UN may have good intentions, and their reports are telling. But if UN doesn't understand this simple fact, then nothing will ever change. They keep on looking through each-others' butts, and all they see is narrow holes full of crap.
It is time to widen their view, and recognize that the "economy" is the biggest religion in the world, with billions believing in it. Stop trying to save the economy. Save the people from becoming slaves, dead, or profiteers. How about we talk about the human behavior for a bit!? To understand what makes these "corporate leaders" or "government leaders" or the rest of us, be so awful...
How about we take care of humans and make sure they have access to their basic needs (at least) as trade-free, so that they have time to think about today's problems, be relaxed, refuse enslaving jobs, consume less, and so forth!?

I realized the Peertube left-side menu with our interesting links to our trade-free stuff, disappeared after the last ynh update. It was based on a plugin that I think stopped working. Actually all plugins do not work it seems....opening an issue with yunohost. #tromlive
This is a UN story. Even their story, meant to be positive, it is not. As they say:

Thinking that you can create sustainable businesses, it is like trying to make the water dry. You cannot. The goal of a business is to keep on making profits, else it cannot sustain itself.
Think about the following:
You have a hiking shoes company. You make boots for the people who want to hike. You employ 100 people or so, to design and produce them. You want to make really great hiking boots and make your business as sustainable as possible. How can you do that? Well, you cannot.
Three reasons why:
1. The chain of trades is wide and complicated in today's society. The raw materials used can come from other parts of the world that you cannot control or oversee. And a lot of materials go into such boots. Here's an example. So the production can be spread across the world, employing slaves, creating waste, pollution, and such. Things you cannot, again, oversee or control.
2. You have to compete with others and that means you are forced to lower your prices. If Amazon, or others, are playing "dirty" (unsustainable) and because of that they can have much lower prices, then very likely you are out of the business. So you are forced to cut corners and maybe lie, deceive, exaggerate about your hiking boots, to keep yourself afloat (to keep on selling them). You will have to invest into ads and marketing, and find cheaper producers/distributors for your boots.
3. The most important and easy to grasp issue: YOU HAVE TO KEEP ON SELLING HIKING BOOTS!
Look, if you are selling something (say hiking boots), you cannot afford to say: "Oh, we made enough of them...seems like most people have hiking boots. And we've also made them of such a good quality that they need no replacement - we don't have to produce new models. Let's stop producing more to not contribute to a potential waste of resources.". You cannot say that. If you say that you also say "Lets fire all of our 100 employees and lose our financial income and suffer because of that." It is that simple!
There is no such thing as a sustainable business, simply because a business NEEDS to keep on producing the shit they are making, endlessly! Else they cannot survive! Couple that with the fact that they have to compete (price wise) with other businesses + the fact that there is usually a huge chain of trades in order to produce any good/service (and you cannot control those), then it surely must mean that trying to make a sustainable business it is like trying to dry the water.
Humans have to take their heads out of their butts, and accept that we cannot keep on living in a trade-based society while trying to fix the problems created by the trade-based society. We need to start providing trade-free goods and services, at least when it comes to the basic needs, for most humans. To decouple them from this rat-trade-race, little by little. #tromimg

Electric cars and batteries won't change the world-
Renewable energies and electric cars won't change our world by much. Maybe will not change it at all.
Think about this:
Imagine all boats in the world were motor-boats. Now someone comes along and has this brilliant idea of making boats that can "sail". He says "we can put these sails, big ones, on the boats, and let the wind push the boat." He the proceeds with detailing the process and how we can scale it up. "Brilliant!" the masses are screaming! And so a billionaire named Ksum Sozeb invests billions of dollars to make sailing boats, claiming that this will change the face of sea transportation. "No more water and air pollution! No more pollution in the manufacturing of motors! Free energy from the wind!" he says.
People like him and his tweets. He starts the production and soon we start to see more and more sail boats, and less motor boats. Amazing!
He manages to replace most of the motor boats with sail boats. Now we are saved! Or not...
In today's society, not in the imaginary story-world, this is probably the case. Many, if not most boats are sail boats. And yet this does not stop the extreme pollution, slavery and aggressive marketing meant to give birth to infinite consumption, of sail boats. Millions of sailboats are not used, lots are wasted, and the process of manufacturing them, disposing them, maintaining them, is immense.
In this trade-based society if you make sail boats you have to keep on making them. If you stop, you are fucked. You will lose. This alone should be the "aha...yeah" moment that would make us realize nothing is sustainable in today's trade-based society.
And so, if all cars will be electric by tomorrow, nothing of essence will be solved. The manufacturing and distribution of these cars and their parts (plastic, batteries, metal, rare earth elements, and so forth) is still extremely polluting and enslaves armies of young and old people.
Musk and others will have to keep on producing these electric cars at infinitum. And since they compete with others, they will be forced to find the shortest path to profit, and this leaves behind a lot of bad things such as slavery, corruption, waste, lies, etc.. If Musk, or others wanted to help humanity transport from one place to another, in a sustainable fashion, then he and others would invest in public transportation in a non-profit way. Simple! But they do not want that. They want to make profits. Simple!
And renewable energies are a good idea in theory, but insufficient and inefficient in today's trade-based society where it will be used to produce more shit, more waste, more slaves, more nonsense.
Unless we change the game of trade into a game of no-trade, then we cannot fix anything of essence. #tromimg

This is so easy to grasp when you understand what a trade-based society is: A human wants to make a car that's better. Better should mean: safer, easy to access, maybe faster, more comfortable, less polluting and such. Better should be encapsulated in what it means to be a car. What is the purpose of a car. In the same way that a cancer treatment is measured in how well it defeats the cancer, what are the side effects, and such. But not the price of it. It is teh value of a treatment encapsulated inside the medical field.
So if human A wants to make a better car, it should be a better car. That's all. However when human A wants to trade this car, then human A needs to find ways to to that. So it will add up what "better" means inside of this trade-based society, Useless features, colors, and such.

The video I sent you is of a tech channel, so yeah, its mostly talking from a tech perspective. One difference between these videos is that one is explaining how tesla is a fraud and the other is explaining how tesla could become a threat as a monopoly. This is just like how Facebook started out, and now everyone is trapped in this vendor lock-in.

in reply to Rokosun • •The lesser "evil" is not as lesser I'd say, and also it can become the "main evil" just as easy. I won't choose between apple and google, I would choose a trade-free linux and I'll make the point why. The same way I won't choose fair-trade products to buy and think they are better than Nestle or whatever. Both are "evil". So I would not choose sides between Pepsi and Coca Cola, i would look for other alternatives and if there are none, I won't support any of those. :P
Also, a trade-free car company seems impossible since it is a "company" after all. But there are plenty free-er transportation systems like subways, autonomous EVs in UK made by the gov, or whatever. They should showcase such examples if they are really serious ;).

Yeah, the examples you gave are much better. If there are transportation systems and vehicles funded by governments, that's a good alternative, not a "company". Again, this is because the force of trade is lower, just like you wrote in your book :)
