Now the interview Joey did with Tio, about the idea of trade-free, is available as trade-free at tromsite.com/videos/#other or directly at videos.trom.tf/w/jRegX83cVsPQs…

You do not have to trade your attention in order to listen to it.

Thank you Joey, again, for the interview! #tromlive

Huge thank you to the people who are still supporting us financially! If anyone can support us please see tromsite.com/donate/

We are furiously working on a new TROMjaro Linux based on XFCE so that our linux distribution will become more stable, much faster, and we are adding new cool features to it. We have a scheduled podcast with Cory Doctorow, we work on the TROM II documentary, we keep videoneat.com and all of the other projects up to date and relevant. We provide a lot of trade-free services at trom.tf, and so forth.

If you think that what we do is worth helping, please consider a donation so we can keep paying for our servers and keep ourselves afloat.

Thanks!

The Money Game and Beyond - Moving Stuff and People Around - Part 4
videos.trom.tf/w/x1GdbLwQAHyEE…

In our world there is a big misunderstanding about efficiency. Since our society is based on trade, things will be done by whatever is cost efficient and not resource efficient or technical efficient. That means apples are grown in New Zealand and shipped to Germany for example. Soy is grown in Brazil then shipped to Germany to feed pigs and that meat is then exported into other tribes. This and so many other trades lead to a world wide frenzy which distorts people's values and destroys the environment.

Let's learn about the story behind some products that we are all familiar with and that many of us have on a daily basis.

On 14th of October we are happy to have Cory Doctorow on TROMcast. We will discuss the online trades: data, attention, views, likes, and so forth. And the monopolies and consequences that revolve around it all.

"Cory is a Canadian-British blogger, journalist, and science fiction author who served as co-editor of the blog Boing Boing. He is an activist in favour of liberalising copyright laws and a proponent of the Creative Commons organization, using some of their licences for his books. Some common themes of his work include digital rights management, file sharing, and post-scarcity economics."

What Is Trade Free? Interview with Tio from Tromsite.com

Unfortunately you have to trade your attention (ads) to listen to it (a bit ironical), but hey it is great that we can get to talk about these ideas with new minds. Thank you Joey for the invitation and for the good questions.

We are releasing TROMjaro XFCE Aplha 2 for testing, if anyone is interested.

We did a bunch of improvements for workspaces, global menus + maximized windows, backups, the default apps and how they work, sessions and more. If you think MacOS or Windows are cool, check out TROMjaro XFCE hehe :). And it is trade-free!

See our updates here tromjaro.com/tromjaro-xfce-alp…

You can grab the ISO from there. #tromlive

See what's our weekly recommended documentary videos.trom.tf/home

Hint: scientists put a massive tree-house on top of some of the tallest trees, to study some rare species of animals and plants. Go watch it, is trade-free!

We are releasing a new and different TROMJaro and we need people to test it. We want to give up Gnome and move to XFCE. Read more about it here tromjaro.com/tromjaro-xfce-alp… where you can also find the test ISO.

Basically it looks similar to the TROMjaro Gnome, but should be much faster, well built, has global menus, HUD, and more awesome stuff. Please give it a try and tell us what you think! #tromlive

We understand that, but we can't be so strict about the trade-free idea else we won't find much software out there that's trade-free. Licenses do add a limitation (a trade) to those who want to modify the software, such as you mentioned. Some ask you to give credit to the source project if you fork it, and so forth. I'd like to see these licenses being dropped and simply allow anyone use the software as they wish, although I fully understand it can be abused by corporations especially. But our "movement" is more about the "educational" aspect of it. Plus, we can filter out a lot of crapware, freeware, and the like, via this trade-free label.

Never heard of it, I'll have a look. Thanks.

We increased the storage quota from 300MB to 500MB for office.trom.tf . TROM Office is a complete alternative to Google Docs. 500MB means thousands of documents that can be stored with TROM Office. #tromlive
