Unsurprisingly, an ex-Mayor rising to Prime Minster has made one of his early priorities giving more power (and funds) to mayors; like his early statements on social care, it demonstrates that politicians who have experienced political realities tend to act on them.

Andy Burnham (ex-mayor, user of social care) is making very different statements & priorities than a new PM steeped in financial services.
