In #BrickLane, #AngelaRayner overrules a unanimous decision by #TowerHamlets Council. She wants a data centre, not homes.

It's a spectacularly bad call, combining so many elements of the UK's misgovernment: centralisation, data centres, housing shortage, disdain for South Asian communities, favouring big finance over ppl, resentment of a non-Labour council.

Yet again, Red Angie looks Tory Blue.

Picking up where she left off before the (partly) concocted stamp duty scandal, Angela Rayner returns to housing, allowing her a second chance to deliver on one of the most difficult jobs in the cabinet; sorting out the UK dysfunctional housing markets, and finding a way to reduce house prices, expand social housing & improve the rental market for those who cannot (or choose not to) buy.

So Angela Rayner has been hounded out of office by a story which hinges on the accuracy of the advice she gained on her post-divorce tax affairs.... not a good day for women in politics nor for actual working class politicians...

But now the Q. may rise: given her position on the left-flank of the cabinet, were Labour 'fixers' behind the emergence of the story - we know it wouldn't be the first time a Govt. has sort to rid itself of a 'turbulent' cabinet member.
