# Hoofdstuk 1: Wie was Charlie Kirk? (nee, hij was geen conservatieve influencer)
Charlie Kirk was een fascist. Hou op met daar omheen te zwammen, want dit was hoe hij zichzelf letterlijk noemde.

Hij riep op tot het stenigen van homo's.
Iedereen die nu loopt te janken over dat politiek geweld altijd fout is: ja joh, prima. Maar waar waren je tranen bij de wekelijkse school shootings? Waar zijn je tranen voor de LHBTIQ+ers (met name trans) die momenteel vermoord worden, in de VS en ook hier? Waar zijn je tranen voor de duizenden vrouwen en zwarten? Voor de politieke moorden op Heather Heyer en meerdere Democraten?
"Use your words in stead of weapons"? Hartstikke tof hoor. Maar use your words to protect minorities before you protect fascists.

# Hoofdstuk 2: Wie is Tyler Robinson, die vastzit voor de moord op Charlie Kirk?
Robinsons familie bestaat uit Trump stemmers, en ze zitten bij de uiterst rechtse, homohatende Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormonen). Tyler verkleedde zich in 2017 tijdens Halloween als Trump, en ook al eens als Pepe the Frog. Maar wie is hij?
De NOS weet het wel:
"Robinson [schreef] teksten op zijn kogelhulzen. "Hé fascist, vangen", stond daar onder meer.
Op een andere huls stonden woorden van het bekende antifascistische lied Bella Ciao gegraveerd."
Dat weet de NOS omdat ze USA Today hebben gelezen. Ze linken zelfs naar het artikel, en citeren er uit. Maar ze citeren volkomen selectief: alleen wat van pas komt in het zondebokpraatje van Trump.
In die citaten maken ze nog (per ongeluk?) flinke fouten: een citaat wat volgens USA Today van "een familielid" is, wordt door NOS plotseling in de mond van Robinson gelegd, waardoor het lijkt alsof Robinson vond dat Kirk haat verspreidde. Nope, dat vond een familielid.
Belangrijker: deze teksten op de kogelhulzen meldt de bron van de NOS (USA Today en Utah governor Spencer Cox) wel, maar de NOS niet:
Kogelhuls 1: “Notices bulges OwO What’s This?”
Dit is een directe verwijzing naar gamecultuur. ʘwʘ komt uit de ascii tekst en stelt twee grote ogen voor die blij, verbaasd en nieuwsgierig zijn. Je plaatst ʘwʘ bij dingen die je schattig vindt, bijvoorbeeld als een vriend een foto van een kitten deelt. Het wordt ook gebruikt in de furry cultuur, waar het nog steeds vriendelijk bedoeld wordt.
Maar zoals bijna alles heeft extreemrechts ook dit weten te perverteren. ʘwʘ wordt in de extreemrechtse gamecultuur alleen sarcastisch gebruikt. "Bulges" wordt daarbij seksueel bedoeld. Letterlijke vertaling: "Merkt uitstulpingen op. Trekt schattig verbaasd gezicht: Wat is dit nu?"
Kogelhuls 2:
“Hey fascist! Catch!” gevolgd door een pijl naar boven, naar rechts en drie naar beneden.
Dit is een directe verwijzing naar een meme (zie afbeelding) gebaseerd op de game Helldivers 2: het is de code waarmee je in het spel een airstrike met een bom van 500 kg doet op je tegenstander: een soort mini-nuke. De meme wordt in de gamecultuur gebruikt als symbool van vernietiging van alles wat je niet zint.
Kogelhuls 3:
“If you’re reading this, you’re gay LMAO.”
Letterlijke vertaling: "Als je dit leest, ben je homo. Ik lach mijn reet eraf"
Denken we nu echt serieus dat een antifascist dit zou schrijven??
Dan think again. Want Tyler Robinson, volgens het AD een ‘slimme en stille jongen die nooit problemen veroorzaakte’ en die 'opgroeide in een liefdevol gezin' was nog een stuk extremer dan zijn homohatende ouders, en postte niet voor niets regelmatig in ultrarechtse forums op internet.

# Hoofdstuk 3: Wie zijn de Groypers?
Groypers komen uit de rechtse gamecultuur voort, en zijn hardcore nazi's. Sleutelwoorden: wit superioriteitsdenken, christelijk nationalisme, gewelddadig, accelerationistisch, alt right. Hun naam is afgeleid van een meme over Pepe the Frog. Ze worden geleid door neo-nazi Nick Fuentes.
Accelerationisme is een extreemrechtse stroming die stelt dat je zoveel mogelijk geweld moet plegen tegen de zittende macht, om een burgeroorlog uit te lokken. In die burgeroorlog zouden minderheden vervolgens uitgeschakeld moeten worden, de macht gegrepen moeten worden, en hardcore fascisme ingevoerd moeten worden, waarna minderheden volkomen worden vernietigd. De eerste stap bestaat uit aanslagen tegen de zittende macht en wie daar bij hoort.
Ook belangrijk om te weten is dat in deze rechtse gamecultuur zeer veel aan "code switching" wordt gedaan. Je kunt dat vertalen met "gaslighten¨. Je neemt typisch woordgebruik van mensen die je haat, en gebruikt die woorden dan zelf, maar op sarcastische wijze.
De kogelhulzen duiden hier wederom heel direct op: gebruik van de antifascistische leuze "bella ciao¨, verwijzing naar memes van furries (furries omarmen LHBTIQ+ terwijl de schutter homo’s juist haatte zoals wel blijkt uit de derde kogelhuls)
Waarom doen ze dat? Accelerationisten willen een burgeroorlog bereiken, door met geweld meer geweld uit te lokken. Dat doe je het best door extra verwarring te zaaien.
Code switching dient vele doelen tegelijk: - door memes of leuzen van je tegenstander te gebruiken heb je kans dat de autoriteiten achter je tegenstanders aangaan in plaats van achter jou (en verdomme dat werkt momenteel zeer goed helaas, want Trump en Schoof gaan nu achter antifascisten aan). - door de woorden van je tegenstanders te gebruiken voor het tegendeel van wat ze bedoelen, kunnen ze die zelf niet meer goed gebruiken. - hoe meer mensen aan feiten of de ware betekenis van woorden gaan twijfelen, hoe gevoeliger ze worden voor nepnieuws, en hoe makkelijker je ze meekrijgt in je haatzaaierij tegen minderheden.

# Hoofdstuk 4: Waarom deze aanslag op Kirk?
Nick Fuentes is al meerdere "Groyper-wars" begonnen, de eerste tegen Charlie Kirk, de tweede tegen Trump. Deze accelerationisten vinden Trump en Kirk namelijk te soft. Ze eisen openlijker, gewelddadiger en harder fascisme.
De eerste Groyper-war (tegen Charlie Kirk) was een tijdje gaan liggen, maar pasgeleden weer opgelaaid. Dat komt hier door:
Kirk werd door velen als serieuze opvolger van Trump gezien. De herverkiezing van Trump was zonder hem waarschijnlijk niet gelukt. Hij was een totale klootzak, en zelfbenoemd fascist, maar hij was ook heel erg goed in wat hij deed. Hij kreeg daadwerkelijk heel veel jongeren mee toen hij zich inspande voor Trumps herverkiezing. Dit is ook de reden waarom hij veel invloed op Trump had.
Dat maakte hem ook doelwit van de eerste Groyper war, omdat de Groypers hem wilden dwingen om voor een nog hardere fascistische koers te kiezen. Dat lukte in feite ook: Charlie Kirk sloeg een veel hardere toon aan, en wist de Groypers te kalmeren door veel meer racisme in zijn toespraken te verwerken.
Waarom laaide de oorlog nu weer op, en werd hij neergeschoten door een Groyper?
Ten eerste: zowel Fuentes als Kirk zijn (cq. waren) antisemieten, én haten moslims. Maar Kirk steunde vanuit zijn haat naar moslims wel voluit Israël. Fuentes ziet dit als heulen met het "Joodse gevaar". Twee weken geleden viel hij Kirk nog fel aan in een online preek, waarmee hij impliciet zijn achterban opriep om in actie te komen.
Een ander ding is echter belangrijker.
Niet alleen de Maga-top, ook Charlie Kirk zelf nam zijn eigen kansen als opvolger van de oude man Trump heel serieus. En Trump, zo dacht hij, is beschadigd wild, door de (theorieën over de) Epstein files. Het zou kunnen dat Kirk alleen maar aan damage control deed, het zou kunnen dat hij daadwerkelijk van belastende informatie wist. Hoe dan ook, hij dacht: ik moet straks niet bekend staan als degene die een pedof iel bleef verdedigen.
Charlie begon in juli te eisen dat de Epstein files geopenbaard zouden worden, waarmee hij regelrecht tegen de wil en belangen van Trump in ging. Trump heeft hem gebeld en geëist dat hij zou stoppen, en dat had uiteindelijk effect: Charlie bond in.
Fuentes was hier woedend over. Groypers verzetten zich eerder al tegen een herverkiezing van de "te softe" Trump, en Fuentes barstte op zijn podcast in enorme scheldpartijen uit tegen Kirk en MAGA, en noemde Trump een 'scam artist'. Fuentes achtte het op dit moment van groot belang voor de fascistische strijd om Trump te vervangen, en de Epstein-rel vooral niet uit te doven, en zag Kirk als zijn grootste vijand die tussen hem en dit doel stond.
In de woorden van J.C. Cantwell: Stochastic terrorism wasn't an "if", at this point, it was a "when".

Nederlandse media kunnen blijkbaar alleen Amerikaanse mainstream media ontvangen die onder invloed van MAGA staan. Maar voor burgers in de VS zelf is dat een ander verhaal, en grote groepen mensen zijn prima op de hoogte van de oorlog tussen Fuentes en Kirk.
Na de moord volgde daarom een massieve backlash tegen Fuentes. In het nauw gedreven, betuigde Fuentes plotseling zijn grote verdriet om de dood van Kirk. Dit wordt algemeen met hoon begroet. Zoals de Atlanta Black Star schrijft: "‘Yeah, I’d Be Scared Too’: Nick Fuentes Tries to Mourn Sudden Death of MAGA Activist—But the Internet Hits Him with a Brutal Reality Check with Facts"

# Hoofdstuk 5: Accelerationistische leiders
Helaas hebben we niet alleen maar te maken met een stel doorgefikte neonazi's die elkaar beschieten.
Schoof, die we nog nooit hebben gehoord over de vele politieke moorden, tweette gister direct hoe verdrietig hij is, nu er aan de andere kant van de wereld een fascist is vermoord. Vandaag kwam daar een preek bij, die kritiekloos door de NOS werd herhaald. Schoof, de premier van de eerste naoorlogse extreemrechtse regering, het hoofd van een coalitie met de veroordeelde racist Wilders, maakt zich naar aanleiding van de dood van Kirk "grote zorgen over "polarisatie" en vraagt zich af: "Kunnen we zo wel verder?"
...Satire is dood. De werkelijkheid heeft haar ingehaald.
In Schoofs toespraak wordt polarisatie door extreemrechts wel genoemd, maar ligt de nadruk duidelijk op links.
De clown zegt zelfs: "Je kunt niet tolerant zijn tegenover intolerantie", waarmee ook hij een meme citeert en aan code switching doet. Hij citeert hier een antifascistische meme met uitspraken van Karl Popper: uitspraken en een meme die zich juist richten op het tegengaan van racisme zoals dat van de PVV.
De NOS is niet te beroerd om Schoofs voorzetje verder het veld in te trappen, en beweert zelfs dat oud minister Veldkamp zijn leven niet meer zeker is omdat Oxfam het waagde om zomaar kritiek op hem te hebben.
De moord op fascist Kirk wordt in Nederland één op één ingezet om een aanval te doen op NGO's, op democratische grondrechten zoals het uiten van kritiek, en om links gelijk te stellen aan extreemrechts terrorisme.

In de VS gaat het nog een stukje verder. Trump en MAGA proberen een oorlog tegen links te ontketenen.
Democratische politici, die nog steeds niet hebben begrepen wat het huidige speelveld is, reageren met angstig gezever over hoe verschrikkelijk de dood van Kirk is. Velen zeggen het letterlijk: "Laten we Trump geen excuus geven voor vervolging en geweld".
Ze willen maar niet beseffen dat fascisten helemaal geen excuus nodig hebben. Als ze het niet kunnen vinden, fabriceren ze het wel.
Zoals Hannah Arendt al zei: Een fascist zegt niet wat hij werkelijk denkt dat waar is. Hij zegt wat waar zou móeten zijn, om de plannen te rechtvaardigen die hij met je heeft.
De grote vraag is wat er gaat gebeuren als Nederlandse media morgen eindelijk eens door beginnen te krijgen dat de aanslag op Kirk is gepleegd door een fascist in plaats van een antifascist. Vrij veel onafhankelijke Amerikaanse media beginnen het inmiddels door te krijgen, dus ook de boomers in onze eigen media die bij god niks willen begrijpen van verwijzingen naar memes, en die zeker nog nooit van de Groyper hebben gehoord, moeten toch op een gegeven moment een beetje wakker worden.
Ik ben ondanks zeer lage verwachtingen erg geschrokken van de gretigheid waarmee media Kirk neerzetten als een "conservatief slachtoffer", in plaats van mede-oorzaak van wapengeweld.
Ik ben nog veel harder geschrokken van de manier waarop bijna overal gesuggereerd of keihard beweerd wordt dat de schutter links en antifascist was. Media verspreiden gewoon nepnieuws als ze alleen twee van de vijf uitspraken op kogelhulzen citeren, en bijvoorbeeld de homohaat weglaten. Dit gaat veel verder dan alleen maar de game-verwijzingen niet begrijpen. Het is ook geen luiheid, het is rechtse propaganda met grote potentiële gevolgen.

Wat gaat er morgen gebeuren?
Sommige media en politici zullen wel doorgaan met hun rechtse leugens en MAGA-frames de wereld inhelpen. Hopelijk zijn er ook media die durven terug te komen op hun woorden, al zullen ze het vast presenteren als "nieuwe informatie¨, wat het niet is.
Hopelijk ben ik te cynisch en wordt mijn ongelijk bewezen. Maar ik denk dat de meeste media en politici dit nu plots gaan doodzwijgen. We gaan het er gewoon niet meer over hebben, of hooguit in een klein berichtje op pagina XXX.
En zo heeft domrechts Nederland weer nieuwe voeding gekregen voor hun idee dat links de wereld in gevaar brengt en bestreden moet worden, desnoods met geweld. In hun kringen, en ook in centristische kringen, gaan de onjuiste en éénzijdige nieuwsberichten over deze extreemrechtse aanslag nog jaren rondzingen onder het mom van "de kogel kwam van links". En dat is in de huidige tijd daadwerkelijk gevaarlijk.
De media hebben met hun eenzijdige oorlog tegen politiek geweld en slaafse navolging van Maga frames, de kans op politiek geweld juist laten toenemen. En hoewel ik allicht niet in mediale complotten geloof: als je als redacteur zó selectief citeert kan ik me niet langer aan de indruk onttrekken dat dit niet altijd een ongelukje is.

Even voorstellen: ik ben een boomer die al meer dan 50 jaar op Groen Links stemt (aanvankelijk PPR).
Als je iets historisch besef hebt, kun je weten dat ik al 50 jaar gevreesd heb voor de huidige tijd: klimaatverandering, gevolgd door fascisme, omdat een democratie niet is opgewassen tegen zo'n enorme transitie om de mensheid te laten overleven (de aarde zelf redt zichzelf wel). Ik heb de boeken, de film en de serie The Hand Mades Tale (in de jaren 80, door Margaret Atwood) gelezen en gezien. Gezien de ontwikkelingen in de VS denk ik dat Atwood een adequate profetie heeft beschreven.
Die nu uit zou kunnen komen. Stel dat de VS die transitie niet overleeft en dus een dictatuur wordt, moeten wij dan niet ons uiterste best doen om dat niet in Europa te laten gebeuren, ondanks de enorme macht die de VS ook op ons hebben? Hoewel ik ook wel zie dat het fascisme ook in Europa toeneemt, ben ik ervan overtuigd dat we hier ons uiterste best doen om dat te voorkomen. Jouw kritiek op de Nederlandse media vind ik dan ook te heftig.
Je zegt dat de media in Nederland allemaal het nep nieuws uit de VS bevestigen. Dat vind ik dus ongenuanceerd. Er word inderdaad veel over de ontwikkelingen in de VS gesproken, maar ik hoor daarin altijd de bezorgdheid dat dat in die mate bij ons geaccepteerd gaat worden. Het zal inderdaad wel een zware 'strijd' worden. Trouwens het woord 'dom rechts' vind ik een gevaarlijk frame. Zo bevorder je de 'wij-zij' sfeer. Socialisme gaat over inclusiviteit, omdat mensen mensen zijn.
@Pierot Pierot misschien besef je niet helemaal dat er connecties zijn met onze fascisten en de fascisten van USA. Wilders bijvoorbeeld is onlangs nog op visite geweest bij de financier van Trump z'n verkiezingscampagne.
Zie boven. Motief is niet zwart op wit door Robinson ingeleverd, maar ook niet heel erg speculatief: Fuentes viel Kirk twee weken geleden nog fel aan online, waarbij duidelijk genoeg was dat hij hoopte op actie van zijn achterban.
Wat pas echt speculatief (of eigenlijk erger dan dat) blijkt te zijn, is de manier waarop Nederlandse media hebben gedaan alsof dit een kogel van links was, en daar nog altijd niet op terugkomen.

Ik ben benieuwd wat er gebeurt. Als dit onvoldoende aandacht krijgt en zowel Trump als de media “links” de schuld blijven geven ontstaat er precies wat de accelationisten willen.
ground news geeft ook aan dat de nos naar rechts leunt. Dus niet raar wat ze schrijven. Wel kwalijk. Ze zouden (op z'n minst) in het midden moeten uitkomen.

@lps Yep, we use Linode Object Storage, and it works great. Pretty much any S3-compatible provider should work, although you may have to deal with specific quirks of the provider to get it working.
Object Storage is a lifesaver, basically allows us to scale up and host vast amounts of video for relatively little cost.
@lps I think we’re on the 5TB tier. Yeah, it’s a bit expensive, but it gives us some room to grow. Definitely look around and compare services!
One thing that we do with onboarding new users is to point them towards our OpenCollective page, which helps offset the cost significantly. It’ll become more of a headache as the instance gets bigger, but Object Storage solved a lot of long-term problems for us.

I'm trying to make my own Kombucha. This is the second attempt as the first was trying to make my own scoby, and it didn't work out! I then bought a proper scoby and have just started the process, hopefully in a week or so I will have my first batch, 🤞!

The forces we're fighting, defense contractors with billion-dollar budgets, lobbyists who write the laws, and politicians who profit from perpetual war, don't lose sleep over our marches. The data is unambiguous that isolated demonstrations, regardless of size, rarely achieve their stated political goals when confronting entrenched power backed by unlimited money.
The research I'm citing focuses primarily on regime change and major policy shifts. Protests can serve other vital functions like building community, shifting discourse, and demonstrating solidarity. But if your goal is systemic change, then read on.
Thankfully, we know what does work.
Erica Chenoweth and Maria Stephan compiled rigorous data from 323 major resistance campaigns between 1900 and 2006. Their research revealed the specific mechanisms that transform moral outrage into political victory. They documented which tactics succeed, which fail, and most importantly, why.
The difference between movements that change history and those that become footnotes isn't passion or righteousness. It's strategic competence. And strategy can be learned.
Let's establish our premises clearly. Political power rests on pillars of support including military, economic elites, civil servants, media, and other institutions that enable governance. Governments change behavior when the cost of maintaining the status quo exceeds the cost of reform. Street protests alone rarely impose sufficient costs or remove pillars of support.
This isn't speculation. Omar Wasow's 2020 study used rainfall as a natural experiment, since bad weather randomly reduced protest attendance, allowing researchers to establish causation. His finding was that nonviolent civil rights protests were far more effective when they weren't just marches. The successful protests were part of sustained campaigns involving economic boycotts, sit-ins, and systematic civil disobedience.
Consider Occupy Wall Street. At its peak, it had encampments in 951 cities across 82 countries. It dominated media coverage for months. It shifted public discourse on inequality. Yet it achieved zero concrete policy changes. Why? Because it refused to move beyond occupation to the tactics that actually threaten power. That means sustained economic disruption, systematic non-cooperation, and parallel institution building.
Contrast this with the Montgomery Bus Boycott. For 381 days, Black residents who comprised 75% of bus riders refused to use public transportation. The city lost money daily. Bus drivers faced layoffs. Downtown businesses saw revenue collapse. Broad strategic and legally damaging tactics ultimately led to powerful system wide desegregation.
The mechanism is straightforward, that protests express dissent, but power concedes only when its fundamental interests are threatened. The fact is, corporations and organizations know when their actions will be unpopular and result in marches. They anticipate it and are entirely prepared for it. They know the strategies and are unconcerned when they know where we will be and how to manage it.
The 3.5% action number from Chenowith and Stephan’s research has been quoted often. However, that 3.5% doesn't mean getting 3.5% to show up for a single action. It means 3.5% of the population actively participates in a sustained campaign over approximately three years. Chenoweth is explicit: "The campaigns need to be able to have more than just protests; there needs to be a lot of variation in the methods they use."
The media widely misrepresented this research, in a sort of “congratulations, 3.5% of the country protested against Trump today. Research shows that you have now defeated fascism and can go home and stay there!”
Gene Sharp documented 198 methods of nonviolent action. Successful campaigns use dozens simultaneously. These include economic boycotts and strikes, tax resistance, alternative institutions, civil disobedience, social non-cooperation, and parallel governance structures.
The Serbian Otpor movement that toppled Milošević understood this. They began with low-risk tactics like graffiti, street theater, and pranks that many could join. They gradually escalated to strikes, boycotts, and parallel institutions. When they finally called for mass demonstrations, they had already eroded the regime's pillars of support.
The 3.5% threshold works because it triggers what social scientists call a "coordination cascade." When people see enough others resisting, the perceived risk drops below the perceived benefit.
But reaching 3.5% sustained participation requires infrastructure most American movements lack.
Politicians can ignore protests. They cannot ignore economic hemorrhaging. The United Farm Workers' grape boycott reduced grape sales by 20% nationally. Grocery chains dropped contracts. Growers negotiated because they had no choice.
The key insight is that economic disruption must be sustained and targeted. One-day strikes are symbolic. Indefinite strikes that halt production force negotiation. This requires strike funds to support participants, alternative food distribution networks, community mutual aid systems, and clear demands tied to specific concessions.
The South African anti-apartheid movement understood this. Black workers continued earning paychecks from white businesses but boycotted white products. After months of devastating losses, business elites forced the government to negotiate.
Isolated movements fail where connected movements succeed. The civil rights movement won because it united Black churches, labor unions, student organizations, and white liberal groups. Churches provided meeting spaces and moral authority. Unions brought economic leverage and organizing experience while students supplied energy and risk tolerance. Liberal allies offered legal expertise and media connections.
Building coalitions requires what veteran organizer Jane McAlevey, who has successfully unionized thousands of workers, calls "whole worker organizing." This means engaging people through their multiple identities and interests, not just their political beliefs. A person might not join as an activist but will join as a parent concerned about schools, a worker seeking dignity, or a congregation member following their faith.
Horizontal, leaderless movements generate initial energy but cannot sustain pressure or negotiate victories. Occupy refused to designate representatives or articulate demands. When politicians asked, "What do you want?" no one could answer authoritatively.
Successful movements require clear command structures for tactical decisions, designated negotiators with defined authority, formal processes for ratifying agreements, leadership development pipelines, and institutional memory preservation.
The Montgomery Improvement Association, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee provided this infrastructure for the civil rights movement. Without them, Birmingham and Selma would have been isolated incidents rather than catalysts for federal legislation.
Repeating the same tactic breeds habituation. Authorities adapt, the media loses interest, and participants burn out.
Successful campaigns follow an escalation ladder:
Consciousness raising through education and small meetings
Coalition building to connect organizations
Demonstrations of resolve through initial protests
Economic pressure via boycotts and strikes
Civil disobedience by breaking unjust laws en masse
These tactics ultimately lead to security forces and elites recognizing the power dynamic shifting and joining the side that seems most likely to win. That should be us.
Each stage builds on the previous. Skipping steps usually fails. Jumping to civil disobedience without economic pressure lacks leverage. Mass protests without prior organizing become one-day events.
Several American organizations understand and implement these principles:
Momentum Community trains organizers in combining structure-based organizing with mass mobilization. They've trained leaders from Black Lives Matter, Sunrise Movement, and #MeToo.
Beautiful Trouble provides tactical resources, training, and strategy consultation. Their toolbox includes detailed guides for over 200 tactics with case studies of success and failure.
Training for Change offers intensive workshops on direct action, strategy, and campaign planning. Founded by Movement for a New Society veterans who helped topple multiple authoritarian regimes.
Midwest Academy teaches comprehensive organizing skills: power mapping, campaign strategy, coalition building, and negotiation. They've trained organizers who've won hundreds of local and state campaigns.
The Ayni Institute specializes in mass protest techniques that trigger moments when political weather changes and previously impossible reforms become inevitable.
United Vision for Idaho demonstrates state-level implementation, combining electoral organizing, legislative advocacy, and direct action to block extremist legislation in a red state.
Your immediate actions this week should be to start connecting with these organizations. Assess your tactical diversity. If you're only using 3 to 5 tactics from Sharp's list of 198, you're under-equipped.
Over the next month, attend a training. Momentum offers monthly online sessions. Beautiful Trouble has free webinars. Build your bench. You need 10 committed organizers for every 100 participants. Start recruiting and training now. Establish strike funds and mutual aid networks, because economic tactics require economic support.
The evidence is unambiguous. Spontaneous, disconnected, tactically limited protests do not topple regimes or force systemic change. What does work is strategic, sustained, multi-tactical campaigns with disciplined nonviolence, economic leverage, and organizational infrastructure. This is verified by the largest dataset of resistance campaigns ever assembled.
The oligarchs and authoritarians you're fighting understand this. They've spent 50 years building infrastructure, taking local positions, and executing long-term strategy. They didn't achieve their goals through righteous anger. They achieved them through patient, strategic, coordinated action.
Your opponents are counting on you to remain disorganized, reactive, and tactically limited. They're counting on you to exhaust yourself with symbolic protests that threaten nothing.
But we have a choice because the tools exist, the knowledge is available, and the organizations are ready to train us.
As my car is in for service today I am taking the bus. Our daughter won two tickets to see the latest Downton movie, at a private screening, at the local flea pit, and she took my wife with her. When they walked in to watch the film they were handed envelopes to put their phones into, as they were watching it pre general release. When I picked them up later they were in high praise of the film, not so much the cinema, which needs some work as it is showing its age!

in reply to Rob van Bakel • •Zie boven. Motief is niet zwart op wit door Robinson ingeleverd, maar ook niet heel erg speculatief: Fuentes viel Kirk twee weken geleden nog fel aan online, waarbij duidelijk genoeg was dat hij hoopte op actie van zijn achterban.
Wat pas echt speculatief (of eigenlijk erger dan dat) blijkt te zijn, is de manier waarop Nederlandse media hebben gedaan alsof dit een kogel van links was, en daar nog altijd niet op terugkomen.

Ik ben benieuwd wat er gebeurt. Als dit onvoldoende aandacht krijgt en zowel Trump als de media “links” de schuld blijven geven ontstaat er precies wat de accelationisten willen.
