Hit pause on AI development, Elon Musk and others urge

Cool....

Now call these as statistical software and maybe people won't be as scared. These "AI"s are dangerous because people are using them to create fake accounts, stupid online content, and scams. All in the name of? TRAAAADE, you guessed it! Good job!

That's the issue, not them taking over bloody humanity.

Regardless of what tech we invent, the trade environment will make humans use the tech for trade purposes, thus creating a big pile of shit behind them.

I fail to see why the AI hype....that chatgpt is extremely incorrect, despite "it" being able to provide well written responses. I do see a use of these statistical software that rely on large amounts of data, for creative work such as video effects, photo manipulation, or on the other hand in coding. Or, if used only in limited environments - like imagine one that only works with Wikipedia and sources its sources.

But yeah. Bloody AI hype...

I wish this would amount to something, but it probably won't. In 2010 the 3D printing "revolution" sparked the same discussions. In 2014 the self driving car did the same. Recently the COVID situation made UBI seem like a legit solution. Unfortunately this society is like a very old operating system that only accepts few packages/libraries updates, every few decades, and so nothing substantial or useful ever changes.
