Since realizing that I'm autistic and working on accepting myself as I am, I'm finding it WAY more difficult to deal with people misunderstanding me, especially friends.
Like a friend telling me that it's great that I'm volunteering at the SPCA so that I can interact with people more...um NOPE it's the DOGS come on, is that really so weird?
They mean well, they're a great person, but it hit a sensitive place I didn't know I had!
Honestly I'm probably just really annoyed with myself for responding "Yes the staff are great" rather than "Uh, nope, not gonna lie, it's all about the doggos!"

I struck out a storm chasing at Grand Canyon in the last two days. 50% chance of thunderstorms never materialized. But I'm getting this consolation prize farther up in the canyon country.
I have one camera set up doing a time lapse and the other set up with the lightning trigger catching the bolts coming from this big cloud. (Ooo! Two more!) I only wish there were some sun breaks to light up the towers in the valley in the foreground because it's quite striking. It's hard to tell in this very flat light. It might still happen because the massive storm to the northwest is fizzling now, so maybe it will let some sun breaks through.
If anyone's curious, the lightning trigger is set up on my 24 mm tilt-shift (which I love for landscapes) and the time lapse is on my 17 mm to 35 mm zoom, set at 28.

I gotta give the Mastodon developers some credit. The options on quote posting look pretty good.
You can set a global "no quoting" for all of your posts, but still give permision to individual posts that you create.
Don't like how someone is quoting you? You can remove your post from their quote.

The surplus shop is a bit like Lidl or Aldi so yes a little bit like a supermarket - the stock is constantly changing though as it is what is left over from other stores.

Fankoos ๐ซถ๐ป I had a decent enough night, woke up a few times though as my leg was annoying me a bit. Hopefully that will get less. Just two more weeks and then I should be able to lay on my left side without the pillow as well (guess I'll need to ease into it), so hopefully that will mean I'll be more comfy. The bruise is slowly fading, but still sensitive a lot, even to my own touch. ๐

I have two opinions I want to post today:
1. You should install Signal on your phone and computer. Connect with your friends and partners on it. Use it casually, regularly, for non-sensitive messages. You'll probably never *need* an encrypted messenger, but if you someday hit a rare case where it's useful? Better it's already set up *before* you need it. Signal still requires a phone# for signup but you can use a username to message.

We've had a very busy few days.
After the collapse of an alternative Group service, we have been inundated with requests. We've added over 100 new groups.
We're pausing the activation of new accounts for a few days. Just to ensure we're stable, and monitor our server capacity. Any new Group requests will be queued for activation next week.

@pathfinder thanks. we've been around for 18 months but uptake was slow. Which is fine. We're not in a rush.
We thought it sensible to take a breather now and ensure stability, given we've grown so quickly in a few days.
The Norwegian Blue hated Misskey, especially Firefish and was fussy over Masto quite often.

TL:DR I got into a nightclub for free, eventually.
Embarrassing but ultimately fruitful bouncer experience.
I got on a DJ guest list for a Techno club in the early 90s (didn't know the DJ, friend of a friend deal). I was confident on the night, guest list, so might have gone a bit early (not to the venue, if you catch my drift ๐).
Rock up to the door, swan past the all the little people* queuing. Announce I'm on Grooverider's list, expecting the red carpet. No.
"Grooverider (Drum and Bass producer) is not playing tonight son"
Squirm.
"Move aside son".
Someone whispers "Loftgroover" (a fucking techno DJ which now makes sense) in my ear. I say those words, they check, and now I'm very important again. Yay! ๐ In we go, clueless, but still very important.
I can only apologise to both Loftgroover and Grooverider for my lack of giving a fuck about details in my pursuit of a free party.
*I was, and am, little people. Let me have my queue jumping moment
