Taking a few days break. Kinda....

My back hurts for the past 10 days and is getting quite annoying. Sitting down doesnt help. So I need to get away from this death-chair.

But also I am privileged to read @Sasha ' s book. FINALLY. Works quite well: I need a few days break from the computer and she just finished the book. At least the vast majority of it. Is kinda done! Done enough for her to share it with me. So I will be the first one to read it. Very very excited.

She worked so hard on this book, since 2017. All about her wonderful and so original lifestyle. Plus, she also talks a lot about our society and even TROM :D.

So yah, I will get lazy these days, relax, read her book. Immerse into it. :)

Seems like the Kdenlive Appimage may work ok...will have to test more tomorrow. Also, such a bloody shame that our Friendica doesn't work properly....it is such a great platform but I feel like the developers from Yunohost may not give it too much attention. idk what else to do about it.

Another strange thing is that we've been getting 502 nginx errors for our invidious and nitter instances, and we investigated the invidious thing and we could not figure where that comes from. Are they connected? I doubt....

It only rarely throws that error from what I observed, but enough to be very annoying and to make our Friendica instance a crippled one. I reported it here if anyone can help.... github.com/friendica/friendica…

Hey Rafa nice to hear from you. Long time no "see".

Am surprised you are surprised by such posts. They are a normal reaction to the current stupidity. I am not at all angry, I am sarcastic. If I were to have expectations that people would change or be different I wouldn't be doing the projects am doing for the past 10 years. I know very well that accusing people may not make them change, so such posts are not meant for that. They are meant to reinforce the values of those that think the way I do. And to poke some fun at this idiotic society.

You know very well I create a lot of content that is not about poking fun at morons, but explaining in a friendly way these behaviors and where they originate.

The weird thing about me is that I rarely get angry at such things, to the point of alienating people around me because they are like "how the fuck you keep on pointing these bad things about our society and are still not angry or depressed?". Am not because I fully understand where these behaviors come from and there is no wonder the world is the way it is. And ofc I also get angry from time to time, but the above post was not my anger, but a simple rant. One of so many of mine.

Anyways. You can't be a walking Ghandi spreading kindness. This world is too fucked up to keep you calm and kind. I am sure even Ghandi was angry and cursing at morons haha.

When I talk to people I am very kind, as much as I can. But when I post on my personal friendica I can be more aggressive in my language.

!Tips and Help (social.trom.tf) ur Friendica instance throws 502 Nginx errors at times, so you cannot access certain pages. This comes after we updated it a few days ago. So maybe we temporarily fixed the issue with Friendica, tho is too early so be sure.
I have deleted and re-added the mariadb.cnf file like the yunohost team suggested.

Then in etc/php/7.3/fpm/pool.d/friendica.conf I made sure I still have these:

pm = static
pm.max_children = 500
pm.max_requests = 1000

Then increase the wait time in etc/nginx/conf.d/social.trom.tf.d/friendica.conf

It is all fun and interesting to use something like @YunoHost and host your own services and provide for others too. However you need to calm a bit down and understand that you have to maintain these and your server. At times you will regret your decisions :D . Like right now Friendica throws some 502 nginx errors after I updated it 2 days ago. And I can't understand what is happening...that puts some stress on me since I use Friendica daily + others use it too.

I also can't simply restore it at this point - the Yunohost restore doesn't even work as I have a huge database and such. So instead of working on the TROM II documentary I will have to take time and find a fix for this. Then there are other such services that may need such care. It is like having many children.

But I am enacting a policy: NO MORE NEW PROJECTS. PERIOD.

I am also going to move more and more away from the software world to the content world. TROM II, books, and the like.

Software is great and I love it, but I should not transform TROM into a software project.

I first made TROMjaro for my parents and friends so that they can install a nicely looking and functional Linux distro. Like I focus on making it very easy to use: click an audio file, it opens with a simple yet functional player. Same with most files. Browse the web and see no ads and no trackers track you. Wanna record your screen? Press a key and type record and record. Want to watch our VideoNeat documentaries? Click the magnet button and watch them. Want to install an app? Open the Add/Remove software and search and install. AUR and flatpaks are enabled by default. And so on.

I made it easy to use. Plus we only promote trade-free applications. No BS free trials, give me money, give me your data, and so forth. We have an online library with over 600 trade-free apps that we tested tromjaro.com/apps/ . You can click install and they get installed on your TROMjaro.

Ok Friendica updated. So far so good. I was really concerned since last time I updated Friendica via Yunohost shit hit the fan really badly. This time all good it seems.

Thank you @YunoHost and @Michael Vogel @Hypolite Petovan @Tobias and others that are behind these two projects. Awesome stuff!

Friendica now has scheduled posts (so cool) + you can add your Matrix ID to you profile. How nice!

@Hypolite Petovan I remember you said you enabled auto load of the peertube player in the new friendica. But when I shared a Peertube video like so videos.trom.tf/w/2vBxVQTa4hfC9… it still showcases as before. No embed player. Am I missing something? #tromlive

@Tio When you put the URL of an ActivityPub posting into the search box in the nav-bar, Friendica will fetch that posting into the system (if it is not there already) and then you can interact with it normally. This way you can comment, like or share a posting like any posting you receive from a contact you are following.

For some reason your video title is imported strangely into my system, leaving some BBCode in the title(???), but when you quote-share the video and leave some text, this should be edit-able.

A new TROMjaro XFCE ISO is out !! tromjaro.com/releases/ . We removed Nautilus and added the XFCE file manager, THunar. The search for Thunar sucks really really bad. But they already improved it so we wait for the update. I am tired. But I am getting close to make the tromjaro train functional and running on its own. I just need to make 3 or so articles, not big. Then fix some of the apps from our library.

After that is DONE.

The next big thing is to move my own computer to this xfce version....

After that I need to update Friendica. Or before doing that...

oh, I must've missed the notification for this comment, sorry Michael.

Yes, I personally believe any person running a system that needs a storage path should be dedicating that path to that one thing - that would be putting way too much trust in a piece of software to have it share some path that you've put something else in. (Notice how I said 'should'... heh, I know...)

It would be easy enough to change the wording in documentation and in the admin UI to clarify that this storage location must be dedicated to friendica as it will maintain every file in it, including removing anything it does recognize as it's own.
