Ello sweet and lovely (gaming) Friendos
I have done all I could on my Corvette and I ended the expedition in No Man's Sky.
Since then, I've been "running" around a planet with locations of scrap containers. I'm trying to gather as much Corvette pieces as I can, so I can then try to build the ultimate flying hunk-a-junk that will be fugly from all directions 😂
But I want to gather scrap components for it first... That should keep me busy!
I took a screen shot before I ended the expedition. I fed AI some of the details so it could write the alt for me, as I just can't do this properly myself. 😔
Ow and yeah, I didn't realize that the cargo pod, that hangs on the Corvette's belly, would look so silly 😂

Right. So. I went from zero walks in September to 3 in the previous 4 days. Only short, gentle ambles round the corner and back… but…
What changed?
Remembering how to *truly* rest.
Apparently my usual ways of winding down and switching off don’t work anywhere near as well for me as either reading a book or watching nature (in this case, just gazing out the window or at our little yarden is enough.)
The latter is “undirected attention”, and has been a MAJOR missing piece to my deliberate rest time most of my adult life (as a kid I would be in nature or with animals as much as I was allowed and did this loads!)
I discovered the idea thanks to stumbling across this article in The Conversation:

How letting your mind wander can reset your brain
‘Attention restoration theory’ posits that allowing the mind to wander is important for restoring focus and attention. The Conversation

I would very much like to read studies about the coexistence of #autism and #ADHD with non-cis gender identities. I see and know so many non-cis folks who are also autistic, ADHD or #AuDHD and that both fascinates me and makes me wonder if there is some kind of connection.
It would require a very careful and respectful study, though, not to reduce non-cis gender identity to a mental health issue. Because it fucking isn't.

Spent the last 3.5 days at #AutismEuropeCongress and was so heartening to see the research happening around #Autism. Multiple presentations of research, and pretty much all the research was designed with the #DoubleEmpathyProblem at the forefront. It was a tonic to hear continuous neuro-affirming language.
Next step: increase diversity of people studied, to include non-speaking autistics, ethnic minorities, more people of colour etc.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 686 , Saturday 13/09/2025
Saturday started around 7am.
Just a day like any other although we did start a Downton fest today, with a view to ending it in a few weeks time with the last of the Downton movies that has just been released.
Fried chicken & chips for tea, more because it is part of our routine than any actual desire for it, can't spoil Mrs S's expectations can we.
Final Thoughts.
With the BBC reckoning to want to appease Remorse's neo-fascist followers, & thousands of RW protesters taking to the streets of London, with the Met police conveniently turning off their facial recognition systems in case they catch someone embarrassing, I do wonder what the point is anymore.
Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. I am thankful to each & every one of you! 🫂 🫶🐿️🖖

I totally understand why, it's just amazing 💜
Glad you had a decent night dear!

Good evening Squirrel Fans.
We started a Downton Abbey fest today, I wonder is Vimes's butler ever met Carson? :-
Someone broke from the scrum and, punching and kicking, staggered towards the Klatchian goal.
"Isn't that man your butler?" said Ahmed.
"Yes."
"One of your soldiers said he bit a man's nose off."
Vimes shrugged. "He's got a very pointed look if I don't use the sugar tongs, I know that.”
― Terry Pratchett, Jingo
In a world gone mad sometimes all one can do is go a little nuts!
Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, I hope you’re well & safe! 😊🫶

This library in Japan is dug into the earth to blend in with the landscape.
Located in Kisarazu, the ‘Library in the Earth’ is nestled beneath the hills, providing a tranquil reading haven amidst the fields. Designed by Hiroshi Nakamura & NAP Architects, it contains 3,000 books about nature. Here, you can read underground while being bathed in natural light and feeling connected to the surrounding earth.

I had a very nice social interaction with a neighbour. We laughed, we were engaged in the subject and they said it was interesting.
But I come out of it feeling super anxious and telling myself I should have said this and that, or shouldn't have said this other thing.
It is consuming.
Before my diagnosis, I would have think that I should improve for next time. Or that it wasn't all that bad. Or blaming myself for having those thoughts.
To know now that it's my autistic self being like that... helps a little bit. I understand that I am, and always will be, this way.
There's a part of grieve and self acceptance that I'm working towards but have not yet reached.
Not an easy process!

in reply to Murdoc Addams 🧛🏻 🇨🇦 • • •Haha I called mine fugly for the longest time... In the end, before ending the expedition, I tried to make her as good as I could... But I am gathering items now so I can try to build a more decent ship. 😊Would you happen to know how many Corvette ships we can create?
Cool names for the ships!
I now called mine in honor of my late doggy gall, ArwenFurEver. 🐾

in reply to Pixy • • •They count as starships in terms of how many you can have, so potentially 12 + storage if they can be stored, but that includes your normal starships too. Right now I have 2 corvettes; had to make space by putting ships into storage.
Arwen, nice.

Thank you for letting me know. 😊
I have a few already, but not that many yet. I still have one Corvette, but I've been exploring a bit of scrap worlds when my hands and time allowed. 😊 I am slowly trying to collect loads of parts so that I can really play around with it to make a new Corvette later on.
BTW how can one put a ship in storage?? (I have been playing about 400 hours now, but many things are still new to me. 😇) thanks in advance!
Thanks. She was my gall for almost 12 years. I still miss her every day.

in reply to Pixy • • •No problem, fellow traveller.
Yup, there's lots to learn. Do you have a freighter? If so, you can store your ships by going to the bridge where you manage your frigate fleet and squadron, it's the same console. If you don't have a freighter yet, then I'm not sure that you can store your ships. Probably one of the privileges of having one.

Awww fankoos
I have a freighter, which could use some work (the bits inside are a tad messy because I had no idea about all the options that I would get later on 🫣). So I *should* be able to check that console! Thanks so much for letting me know.
I have been gathering more Corvette bits this morning. Might try to get some more after a meal. 😊 I wanna see if I can get that container filled and then find a Corvette guide to learn how to best build one. My current one isn't too bad, if I may say so, for a first attempt. But I struggle with depth in screen, and I have no idea what some of the parts are for. So maybe there is a guide already that will teach me some tips and tricks.
And then I can try and make a real ship that will be worthy of Arwen's name.
Thank you again for your help!

in reply to Pixy • • •I also created a weird looking asymmetrical Corvette just for fun.

in reply to n3wjack • • •Weird looking can be fun for sure, but I'd also like to have one that's functional and not a brick to fly 😉
