Yeah, I don't know about attention, even if it's Euronews the guy who running this program is not sure if he will get funding and approval for 2 season of this show. That was the last episode from season 1. So yeah looks like not many people watch such shows. But anyway we have to do it. The same as you with TROM. Because even if not much we still reach people. These are a result of often enslaved humans producing "stuff" in a trade-based society. Technologically we, as a society, are quite advanced, but morally we are primitive.
Despite all of this technological progress humans are still forcing ALL of their billions of members to trade in order to survive, despite being able to feed, house, and take care of everyone on Earth. This means we are still primitive and have no greater goals such as exploration, the advancement of technology and science, understanding where we came from and where we are heading... All that humans do is trade, day in, day out.

If you take away the electrification, internet, the gadgets, the hot water and the mass produced products - stuff - you are left with the "naked" humans who all they want is to acquire more, get "married", work, have kids, drink, and cheer up for their tribe.
It is the environment who creates these behaviors so if we do not change the "mental" environment, nothing will happen. We do not need new tech, new science, new materials. We need new lives for the individuals of this species. Lives that are relaxed and taken care of. Scientific, globally oriented, and to live in a non competitive environment.
So the UN or other institutions, if they ever want to solve any global issues, they need to first propose that we should take care of people and create a decent life for them. All of them, not just the very poor. We are all trapped in this trade-prison. You can't expect for a different society to emerge when all humans do is to slave away and compete with each other. Dog eats dog world.

I have joined North Seal Team volunteers in Belgium for this mission to protect grey and common seals. Also I have visited SeaLife Blankenberge which have the only seal sanctuary in Belgium and they are doing great job of taking care of the seals.

It's a huuuuuuuge building, I can't even imagine how many thousands of people works or present there every day. Last week I was visiting it as I took a part in Climate Pact Conference there. I am climate pact ambassador of Latvia, and that was my first offline event at this position. The whole building is full of artworks, paintings, sculptures and countless maze of halls. By the way I wasn't allowed to freely walk there, there was always people who was making sure that we are staying only in the places we supposed to stay.
So yeah, quite fancy and stylish place. During the day I attended several talks, discussions and panels. There were about 170 attendants, some like me ambassadors from other countries. It was a nice mix of various people from all possible backgrounds but all sharing the same passion and dedication for ecology. I've met marine biologists, actors, molecular scientists, photographers, politicians, business people, athletes, musicians, engineers. And I love the idea and the fact that each of them doing something trough their field their expertise for the climate.
I was sitting in such chair listening and participating in some climate related discussions. For example about online green washing or climate deniers online. How algorithms push conspiracy and anti climate change topics and so on.
All day was fun and good, they even served everyone vegetarian and vegan food. In fact it was only that, there was no meat or fish. Which is awesome. So what I have learned and took for myself after whole day there ? Well, honestly not much.... As soon as I left the event and was about to call Mara, I stopped and tried to realize, ok what should I tell her know. What was all this event about. And you know what. I couldn't remember anything... I was almost like blinded, someone erased my memory. During the day I heard so many politicians, MP's, presidents of all kinds of departments. They been talking, talking and talking. On a simple question they will give you 15 minute long answer, so while they are replying you already forgot what you been asking. And the end is always the same, it's Yes, but No. Or not Yes or not No. But since you already forgot the question and they speak so much with smart terminology you are just confused.
The main realization was that we have politicians only to speak. It's their job - speak. And that's it, they don't need to do much more, maybe vote :) But mainly speak and speak and speak. So the whole day felt a bit like a fast food, you eaten something, but you haven't received any nutrients and after 1 hour you will be hungry again....
I was thinking maybe they will inspire me to do something more, or they will offer some kind of projects, collaborations or so on. But no, I was naive, or I have no clue what politics is about. I think politics is not for me. But as yesterday my friend told me even if it's small changes that can be done with the help of politics and policy making it still worth the fight. It kind of encouraged me. And he is right, we should fight even if there is some slight chance for a change or improvement. So I will see how my "political" career will unfold :) for know I am mainly researching and looking into it, if it's something I can do. But still at the moment I feel for me it's better to go and plant a tree or save a turtle rather than attend a conference.

Interesting to read about your experience there. And I am not surprised. Politicians talk so much and many times say nothing. But it is good to try these waters and see how it is. Maybe at least you can find others who participate there, who are from some orgs and who do stuff.
So how are they helping you at the end of the day? Do they give you access to something? Projects? Funds? A platform?

I think that small changes are very good ofc, and are the ones that are still possible, but for sure we need much bigger changes and I am quite skeptical that they will come from these normal institutions. But maybe others can get in and influence some of their views. Maybe...

yes, i was discouraged by this politics. Only small things are possible without changing the whole system. Patchworks. But since no clue how to change the system, patchworks is something is worth doing anyway, rather dreaming. So I don't have much aspiration to follow political career right now, maybe when I am 65 then I can sit and talk, that's probably would be the right time :) But sure, I will experiment more...
Right now I am about to finish a video about Seals, which I've filmed in Belgium too, right after that conference. Will release it in a few days. And currently looking for something to do in April, looks like I would go for some rewilding and national parks in balcans, but not certain 100% yet. Still looking for options for the April.

This November Facebook is rolling out a subscription model for EU. Their options: pay 10 Euros a month and you will not see ads on Facebook, or as they say it: People can refuse to pay a subscription and continue to use Facebook for FREE while seeing ads.
Let's quickly unpack this shitshow.
For the past 10.000 years humans have used a practice to move stuff around the globe: trade. You take care of my sheep, I give you cheese. In time it evolved into specialized work, the notion of debt (trade for it later) and the invention of "currency". A worthless resource that humans imagine to have value. Such as gold, shells, coins, etc..
You do not have to build houses for others in return for some clothes and food, you will get a currency in return for your work. In time humans started to lose track of what is really happening in this society of trade and then believed that they work for the currency itself. Like you work for money. Despite the fact that not a single human works for money, they work for what money gets them (food, comfort, access, power, etc..).
Therefore, from economists to regular workers, journalists or historians, everyone got tricked and confused by the ways the trade practice mutated over the past thousands of years.
Nowadays it is even more confusing because one can trade their attention (watch ads) in return for accessing some digital content. Or agree to let their data being mined in return for other services. Therefore a currency is often not needed, but the practice of trade is the same as it was 10.000 years ago.
So today humans somehow think that if something does not cost money (or other currencies) that something is FREE. This is almost like saying that someone is not dead unless it has a death certificate.
If we were to understand this simple fact of life, we could cut through a lot of the crap that is raining down in today's society. We could easily ask the question: What Am I Trading? Like: what do I have to give in return for using Facebook?
And the answer is simple: you need to give them your attention (watch ads), your data, and your currency to either pay to reach your followers and so forth, or pay for a monthly ads-free experiencing.
As you can see in no scenario Facebook is free. NONE.
This is what TROM is trying so hard to make visible: the invisible part of our society. The fact that TRADE is at the core of how this society works, and how this force of trade is making us all complete jerks, charlatans, and abusers. We need to understand what the problem is, in order to come up with any solution.
I was visiting conservation organization "Carpathia" in Romania. They're doing so many different activities to preserve and restore nature and wildlife. Bringing back European Bison's, restoring and rewilding forest, support local community, do all kind of monitoring activities for wildlife. And much much more. I have some good news, I've just become official EU Climate Pact Ambassador for Latvia. What it means basically I became a member of EU initiative to promote ecology, biodiversity, climate issues and solutions in Europe. They have many ambassadors all over EU from all different backgrounds and professions, with all kind of skills. But everyone have a common goal to improve ecology in all possible ways. From now on I have access to some European Union projects, initiatives and trainings. Also will have a chance to present Be Brave To Act in Euro Parliament in Brussels next year.
That's a very good news. I hope you get more exposure. How did it happened? You contacted them, or they reached to you? Will they also help you financially a bit so you can continue your project?
They had an application form on their website, where you could apply. I don't think they will help financially, I am not sure what to expect really, i guess it's more about me having access to several activities they are doing in EU. And also possibility to connect with other similar "activists". Also not sure about exposure, but probably If I will have a short presentation in Brussels then I might get some good contacts or opportunities.
@Dima does a fantastic job at highlighting the good people that still live in this backwards trade society and why they are struggling to do the good things that they do. Imagine doing good things like saving turtles, and not only that you are not helped in this society, but face many roadblocks.
Dima keep on doing your important work! Your videos are much needed for everyone to understand the struggle the volunteers have to face, but also to understand that people are motivated to do good things. We just have to enable that by helping them.
If people had access to at least their basic needs as trade-free, we would see a lot of change happening.
I need to divorce myself more from the society/politics/conflicts part of our world. It is insane what it has become. When Russia put hundreds of thousands of troops on Ukraine's border and were accused of preparing an invasion, they said that's entirely false. Then they invaded, then they called the war against Ukraine as a "special military operation".
They bombed hospitals and schools and residential or public spaces, killing so many innocent people...
UK, USA, and EU were "horrified" at these atrocities, while China was "on the fence" and Iran and the like were kinda cheering up for Russia and helping them.
Day by day, people dying, politicians lying. People were crying...
And now Israel drops thousands of bombs on Gaza, killing again so many innocent people. Creating a total disaster.
So much suffering, just like in Ukraine. And yet USA, UK and EU are cheering up for Israel.
Even helping them...
Suddenly there is no more genocide....
Israel says they only kill the bad people, despite the videos and photos showing the contrary. They say they are saints and are fighting against evil, because you see Hamas killed over a thousand innocent Israeli people and that's EVIL, so they must go and kill thousands more innocent people....because that's GOOD!
Not to mention what Israel has done to palestinians over the past decades....trapping them in an open prison basically...
Then Russia is like: Oh my god, this is genocide! Unbelievable! To drop bombs on hospitals and kill entire families. This is terrible!
And China speaking up against what Israel is doing, more than what Russia is doing. And Iran talking about "human rights"....
And Ukraine not putting any blame on Israel for doing what Russia is doing to them....
Add to the mix the Hamas and other groups that create a lot of misery and terror, and the values of the so called "Arab countries" that are full of shit, and the primitivism of religion overall.
Ukraine is also not an angel, or any other tribe for that matter. Politicians are lying, propaganda is a daily news, and people continue to suffer while at the same time we have problems like cancer killing so many people, tuberculosis that is treatable killing the poor by the millions; diseases, climate change, pollution....
But the thing is, many of these situations are still a result of our trade-based society. The destruction of our environment, enslaving people, making humans into consumers, and so on, are a result of this society.
But even when it comes to wars they are a result of boiling trade-interests on a high flame. Where politicians say all sorts of stupid things, create propaganda through social (ad) networks that also rely on trades, promoting nationalism and patriotism to get more votes, to then have these politicians rule over others, and have luxurious cars, do all sort of businesses, and gain more power.
In other words do you think the "head of states" really care about their tribe when they are almost always caught avoiding taxes, doing shady businesses, and stealing form their tribe?
They care about them and their families, but then they start to promote "patriotism" and "us the tribe" stupidity, to gain votes to be elected as "heads of states". And they use these platforms that care mostly about you paying them to promote your posts. The cycle of vomit.
The thirst for power comes mainly from humans being trained to trade to acquire, because the more you have the more power you have, and vice versa.
And then starting wars is part of the power thirst and the need to get more "support" from the "nationals".
A mix of rich people who lie and have power over others, and the others who are confused patriots, busy workers, and idiotic consumers. Going at war is easy.
And these things are not new at all. For thousands of years these things have existed. From the Roman empire to the Iraq war....
Conclusion.
This is a totally insane society, full of lies and idiots. A horror carnival. And I think the sanest way for me is to force myself to ignore this side of our society. Ignore everything that any politician says (I already do this anyway), ignore these conflicts that I cannot do a thing about and are wrapped in propaganda and misery; ignore this society and focus more on the natural world.
I want to try and do astrophotography to reveal what my eyes can't see. To go more in nature, to grow TROM and its many positive projects, to live a less stressed life, because the society is too retarded and chaotic to even make sense of it, let alone do anything about it.
Faroe Islands - Should you visit or boycott ? Consider this first!
I've spent few weeks in Faroe Islands volunteering and learning about the Grindadrap tradition. Which is obsolete in modern society and should be banned and forgotten. But it's not happening. What can we do and if there is a chance to change it?
I am very grateful for organizations which are there on a ground trying to protect pilot whales and Atlantic white sided dolphins. Bunch of brave people acting when politicians and governments keeping quiet.

I've joined Whales and Dolphins Research Expedition organized by organization DMAD. The project called " Giant Guardians Of The Deep Seas" the aim of survey is to scan all Eastern Mediterranean part of Turkey for cetaceans. My position was drone pilot and to find sperm whales there was not an easy task.
Such researches are very important and necessary both for scientific purposes and conservation. Unfortunately as it often happens such projects lack funding. And right now further surveys under questions because of not enough money to cover the expenses.
The choice is Yours. DMAD – Marine Mammals Research Association is a non-profit and a non-governmental organization that aims to create an ecological consciousness through its scientific research and outreach activities. Get Involved Be the change.
Ok people, the documentary is finally available. Please keep your expectations low and keep in mind that this documentary is made mostly by one human being, with limited resources. We have not used any stock footage (except maybe 2-3) so everything you'll see is real and genuine.
